My doctor found a lump.........?

in my breast. I had a mammogram and ultrasound. They say it's just a cyst. He tried to drain it today and the little bit of liquid came out was black. Anyone else have this happen? Thanks.

Ultrasounds are pretty darn accurate when it comes to diagnosing a lump as a cyst. It is hard to confuse a cyst with any other process when you image it with ultrasound. Cysts will come and go throughout most women's lives. Cysts are not cancer (they are fluid filled sacs), they do not become cancer and other than them scaring the crap out of us women, they are harmless. They can cause pain though, due to pressure. I would guess that the dark color of the fluid is due to some bleeding within the cyst....that happens. More than likely, your doctor is sending the fluid to pathology to have it tested. Interestingly enough, even with drained there is a high percentage of cysts which return in the same exact place!

Yes, I had that happened and I was scared out of my pants.

I was extremtly afraid where I've had two aunts who died from breast cancer so I was panicking.

I was relieved when the nurse said that it was just a cyst and they usually go away on there own.

A cyst is a liquid ball. once it punctured it will go away.

Once I had it done I never got them back.

If your must is big like mine or you've breast fed it does happen.. most times 95% of the time.

Yes, I was about 42 when I got my first cyst. I thought I had cancer it was scary. Cysts almost never become malignant.

My friend had the same thing when she was 16. The doc drained it and now everything is ok.
