1991 GMC Jimmy?

I am thinking about buying a 1991 GMC Jimmy 4x4. They are asking $1,800.00 for it. It has a rebuilt motor in it. It is inspected. They tell me everything works. How does this price sound for that vehicle? I have not seen it yet but plan to today, as well as hearing it run and taking a ride in it.

Update:

Well I just had a look at it. It has a new Alternator, Battery, complete exhaust, and brakes are new. No tears or rips in the seats, clean carpet, no power windows or seats, Did not smoke when started and I am told it does not burn any oil. This guy is a machanic as a hobby as is his brother. They rebuilt it. It has only about 20,000 on the rebuilt engine. Engine was clean and no evidence of oil leak under it. Tires on it passed inpection 4 months ago and has not been driven since. 4 other tires and rims go with it.

Bobweb, I would like to talk with you further by email. Please email me.

do take a ride and see it, it prolly has a ton of miles on it cuz of its price, but since the engine was rebuilt thats a plus, if u r not mechanically inclined take some one that is to make sure it will last longer than a few months..

Source(s): also see if you can get some kind of warranty for it

Hopefully they got better since I owned my 1983 Chevrolet Silverado. The distributor was always a problem on the early GM trucks, but the rear wheel drive makes it easier to repair in many respects. If the air conditioning truly works, it will be amazing. Also, do all the electrical windows work, especially the rear tailgate window. Maintenance is the key, so get a handle on how well it was taken care of. Ask how many quarts of oil it burns in 1,000 miles. One or less is good. How are the tires and brakes? The muffler and tailpipe may need changing. Does the 4 wheel drive work? Who "rebuilt" the engine and what parts where installed? Is it the original transmission in the vehicle and how many miles are on it? Transmissions don't last over 150,000 miles too often. A new remanfactured transmission from GM or http://www.jasperengines.com/ will cost you $2500 installed.

The gas mileage will be horrendus. Many owners are selling their old trucks because they can't afford to put gas in them. You need a "cooling off period" before you decide to buy this vehicle. That means there's tons of used trucks and SUVs around and your in a buyer's market. Don't buy it the day you see it. Look at some used Toyota 4x4 trucks too.

what has led to this is the linkage is the two loose on it or it has stretched some, this is sometimes adjusted out of it in spite of the undeniable fact which you,ll could desire to placed the e- brake on ,and get in under it and unfasten the linkage on it,and circulate the arm on the transmission to park place then regulate the linkage to the place its precise with the piece on the transmission if its cable controlled it may desire to be stretched out so as which you cant regulate it,yet many times all of them could be adjusted,it has only slipped in spite of the undeniable fact that its not a significant element to be bothered approximately, ten minutes to regulate it and it would be very nicely, sturdy success desire this facilitates.
