Has Defense Secretary Gates utterly ridiculed deserter Bush and backed Pelosi??

BAGHDAD - Stressing the limits of U.S. patience, Defense Secretary Robert Gates said Friday the Bush administration will weigh Iraq's political progress in deciding this summer whether to bring home some of the U.S. troops.

"Our commitment to Iraq is long-term, but it is not a commitment to have our young men and women patrolling Iraq's streets open-endedly," Gates told U.S. and Iraqi reporters at a news conference in the capital.

Democrats have seized on Gates' recent remarks as contrary to the White House position. While administration officials have said Democrats are hurting the war effort, Gates said Tuesday the debate in Congress on the war has been helpful in letting Iraqi politicians know the clock is ticking.

"Unlike some in your administration who have been playing politics by criticizing the debate in Congress over responsible timelines, Secretary Gates recognizes that debating the timelines is constructive because it exerts pressure on Iraq's leaders to forge political compromises," House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (news, bio, voting record) and other House Democratic leaders wrote in a letter to Bush.

Update:

ALL YOU neocon trolls: Bush is a deserter. PERIOD. Where is your answer to the actual question, slave-drones? I piss on you from a dizzying height.

Update 2:

The reality is faceless slave-automatons, is that you bleated hysterically when Pelosi and Reid called for a timetable, and then, GUESS WHAT, Gates calls for one a few weeks later and calls the debate a healthy thing. Answer the question, neocon drones.

Update 3:

Ok, I guess you can't. Abased yourselves again. What else is new?

So far, I'm impressed with Gates. I'm still watching, however to make sure he doesn't cross over to the dark (Bush/Cheney) side which is a real possibility.

whilst i do no longer think Obama ought to have any Republicans or Bush linked cupboard individuals, the clarification in the back of the %. is sparkling. Obama needs to make a secure transition because we are formally "at conflict" so keeping the Secretary of protection on until eventually potential has been transferred makes ideal experience. Neocons won't have the capacity to blame Obama if something occurs early interior the Obama presidency because of the fact he maintained the prestige quo initially. And who's the fool who thinks Paul Volcker exchange right into a Reagan appointee? Jimmy Carter placed him interior the Fed and Volcker is a Democrat. Geez!

You stupid fu ck. Bush has never had an open-ended desire to remain in Iraq. The Bush administration has been saying for over a year that the power of the US military is not an open ended promise. That the new Iraqi government would have to stand on their own two feet. Bush just does not want to put a time table on it as long as the Iraqi government is making progress, no matter how small it is. But leave it to the Bush haters to make a big deal out of a move that has been in the works for over a year.

No, If you recall that is basically the same thing the President said, No time limit but the Iraqi government must show progress and we will help them for now, no progress and we will leave, no fixed date for a withdrawl though. It will be determined by the situation on the ground. On the other hand Pelosi is just politicizing it for votes, she has tried to twist what the Secretary has said to fit her agenda, like she always does. For her it's not about Iraq, it's about getting votes and trying to look good.

Don't forget Bush wasn't the first president attacked, he was just the first to do ANYTHING about it. To call him a deserter is ridiculous. Anyone that doesn't want to finish this war is a deserter, a traitor, and a coward. Much like the person who asked this question. Pelosi should probably be in jail by the way. Keep backing these no-nut liberals and it'll be much worse next time.

At least she has the courage to go to talk to the leaders of the countries over there, unlike the Oil barron and energy giant supporters.
