  • Why did hysterical conservatives applaud when we lost the Olympics?

They gleefully pronounced it as "the world rejecting Obama". But, a whole week later, these mentally-enfeebled worms are shrieking hysterically because the world has lauded Obama. Which is it, babbling America-hating stooges?

  • Is Palin the biggest WIMP in American political history?

She can read attack speeches off a teleprompter, but she's terrrified of actually facing the media.

    Hockey Mom = Cowering Wuss?

    Is that Palin's message?

  • Why do conservatives continually misquote Lincoln?

    http://www.factcheck.org/article415.html

"Supporters of President Bush and the war in Iraq often quote Abraham Lincoln as saying members of Congress who act to damage military morale in wartime "are saboteurs, and should be arrested, exiled or hanged."

Republican candidate Diana Irey used the "quote" recently in her campaign against Democratic Rep. John Murtha of Pennsylvania, and it has appeared thousands of times on the Internet, in newspaper articles and letters to the editor, and in Republican speeches. But Lincoln never said that. The conservative author who touched off the misquotation frenzy, J. Michael Waller, concedes that the words are his, not Lincoln's. Waller says he never meant to put quote marks around them, and blames an editor for the mistake and the failure to correct it. We also note other serious historical errors in the Waller article containing the bogus quote. Update Aug. 26: Candidate Irey retracted the quote and apologized hours after this article appeared.

  • Cons: If Al Gore made up Global Warming, why does Bush want to spend $2 Billion on it?

Bush wants to give India and China $2,000,000,000 to fight a problem which, if you believe the average conservative on YA, doesn't even exist.

So when are you going to either: 1)call for impeachment or 2) make a donation to Al Gore's foundation?

"Bush promises $2b for climate fight"

The United States will commit $US2 billion ($2.25 billion) to promote clean energy technologies and fight climate change, President George W Bush said in his final State of the Union speech today.

Mr Bush said the US was "committed to strengthening our energy security and confronting global climate change".

"Let us create a new international clean technology fund, which will help developing nations like India and China make greater use of clean energy sources," he said.

The money will be committed to a new international fund over the next three years."

  • Does it bother Rudy supporters that most NYC firefighters despise him?

Absymal communications, foolish placement of command center in the WTC after the '93 bombing, bungled recovery effort, hundreds if not thousands of recovery workers now sick, why is Rudy the "hero" of 9/11 again?

  • Why does "Slick Rudy" get away with constant lies and misstatements?

    http://www.factcheck.org/elections-2008/freds_fact...

    "Fred's Facts Check Out; Rudy's Don't

    Summary

Former Sen. Fred Thompson got the facts straight for his GOP debate debut Oct. 9. But former Mayor Rudy Giuliani added to a lengthening string of exaggerations and misstatements:

Giuliani claimed Sen. Hillary Clinton once called the free-market economy "the most destructive force in modern America." She didn't say that. She quoted another author who said free markets were "disruptive." She also said free markets bring prosperity.

The mayor falsely claimed Clinton proposes to give $1,000 to "everybody." Her proposed subsidies to workers' retirement accounts would be for couples making up to $60,000 a year and would be $500 for those making up to $100,000.

Giuliani falsely claimed that more than 2 percent of the nation's gross domestic product is spent on "frivolous" lawsuits. The figure is from a study about the cost of all lawsuits."

  • Why does Bush Consider Bin Laden "no longer a priority"?

"I don't know where bin Laden is. I have no idea and really don't care. It's not that important. It's not our priority."

    - G.W. Bush, 3/13/02

"I am truly not that concerned about him."

    - G.W. Bush, repsonding to a question about bin Laden's whereabouts,

    3/13/02 (The New American, 4/8/02)

Cons get all foamy-mouthed and hysterical over Ahmadinejad speaking at Columbia, but they are totally fine with Bin Laden being free to carry on his evil plots and ridicule American justice from Pakistan.

Then when Obama said that he would use military action in Pakistan to capture Bin Laden, they again got hysterical, claiming that would somehow be "dangerous" and "irresponsible".

So, evidently they are fine with leaving a man who killed 3000+ Americans alone, but a speech at a college by a (like it or not) world leader of a nation who we are not yet at war with and who the President allowed into the country makes them hysterical. Go figure.

  • When are Rudy and the other Repubs going to publically repudiate Boehner for devaluing our troops sacrifice?

Rudy, in a typical cheap grandstanding political move, is blasting Hillary for the MoveOn ad, which of course, she had nothing to do with.

Since he is so insistent on her disavowing a statement from a controversial left-wing group that she has no involvement with (other than the fact that she is a liberal politician), is HE going to condemn Boehner for the following?

"Just yesterday on CNN, Wolf Blitzer asked John Boehner, the leader of the GOP in the House, this question (video on Horse's Mouth):

"The loss in blood, the Americans who are killed every month, how much longer do you think this commitment, this military commitment is going to require?"

    Mr. Boehner responded:

"The investment that we're making today will be a small price if we're able to stop al Qaeda here, if we're able to stabilize the Middle East, it's not only going to be a small price for the near future, but think about the future for our kids and their kids."

  • Why do conservative pundits think their judgement is superior to General Petraeus'?

Early in the week, we heard from conservatives (including Rush, bloggers, many on YA) that those critical of the war had no right to contradict Gen. Petraeus, because he is both running the entire effort and knows the "facts on the ground". One of the main areas he testified about was strategic counterinsurgency, i.e, how to combat terrorism using non-military means.

But following Petraeus' comment that he is unsure whether the whole Iraq effort is "making America safer", the Con pundits backpedal and now tell us that the Gen. is just a "military man", implying that he isn't sophisticated enough to make the pat judgements that the likes of Limbaugh and Hannity belch daily (such as "we have to fight them over there so we don't have to fight them here").

Clearly, Petraeus' is responsible for very sophisticated strategic planning far beyond anything that is demanded of the likes of BillO. So why do they blithely dismiss his judgement that the war may not be making us safer?

  • Anybody see the BillO-Ron Paul Interview last night? Comments?

BillO seems to be getting more crazed than ever. He spent about a minute and a half on the Petraeus hearings, then proceeded to have about a 7 minute interview with Ron Paul where he did his usual huffy interruption/browbeating thing. Paul maybe got to talk for 3 minutes during the whole thing. When Paul tried to give some context to our history with Iran, BillO huffed "we don't have time for a history lesson" and abruptly cut him off.

All so he could get to his next "hard-hitting" story, which was a warmed-over rehash of months old comments from the likes of Rosie (he really really misses her, it's obvious) and Tim Robbins, which lead to a "discussion" with the unhinged Michelle Malkin about how the "far left" is taking over the media.

I'm not a Paul supporter, but wouldn't it have been more informative to give an actual candidate more time to talk than express outrage (again) over something Rosie (an unemployed entertainer) said in February?

  • Why do benighted Cons keep babbling that inflation "skyrocketed" under Carter?

Under Carter, inflation averaged 9.73%, as opposed to 8.23% under Ford, an increase of approximately 18%.

In Clinton's first term, inflation decreased from an average of 4.4% during Bush I to 2.8%, a decrease of approximately 36%.

    A) The increase under Carter was well within typical historical ranges of fluctuations between presidential terms.

    B) No one is claiming Carter as an economic genius, but the situation he inherited from Ford was abysmal.

    C) If you vilify Carter for the slight increase in inflation over the Ford Administration, you have to glorify Clinton for drastically cutting inflation during his administration (at twice the rate that Carter increase it).

  • What is your opinion of Whitman vs. Giuliani? Who's at fault for Ground Zero Workers Illnesses?

There has been debate between Christie Whitman, former EPA Director and Giuliani's campaign about who is to blame for the chronic lung illnesses among Ground Zero recovery workers.

I believe that EPA caved in to pressure to "assure" downtown residents that air quality was "safe". I do not believe that EPA told the City that Ground Zero air was ok. Given all the fires burning alone, I can't believe that City workers weren't FORCED to wear respirators. Does this show failure of Rudy's leadership?

"EPA told the city's health department that there were concerns about worker safety at the World Trade Center site. In addition to standard construction/demolition site safety concerns, this site also poses threats to workers related to potential exposure to hazardous substances," including building materials, hazardous materials stored in the buildings and combustion products emitted from the smoldering rubble, the (EPA)letter states."

  • When is "fair and balanced" Fox going to give Michael Moore or Bill Maher a full hour?

Hysterical cons shriek constantly about how MSNBC is supposedly "biased". Yet they gave Coulter a full hour last night, answering mostly softball questions on a college campus from sycophantic young Republican types.

When is Fox going to give Moore or Maher an hour, or are they too terrified?

  • Is McCain going to succeed in trashing Giuliani's competence?

McCain trashed Rudy today, referencing the 9/11 communications problem (Firemen responding couldn't hear firemen even a few yards away).

Giuliani seems to be strongly running on his 9/11 leadership, yet:

He located his emergency command center at the WTC after it had been attacked once, when he likely should have known it was a probable target.

He presided over an FDNY response, that was heroic but very much lacking in coordination and top level leadership (see above).

He failed to demonstrate any leadership in the recovery effort. Thousands of recovery workers are now sick, many have died, due to the lack of stringent safety standards at Ground Zero.

Does McCain have an opening here?

  • Has Defense Secretary Gates utterly ridiculed deserter Bush and backed Pelosi??

BAGHDAD - Stressing the limits of U.S. patience, Defense Secretary Robert Gates said Friday the Bush administration will weigh Iraq's political progress in deciding this summer whether to bring home some of the U.S. troops.

"Our commitment to Iraq is long-term, but it is not a commitment to have our young men and women patrolling Iraq's streets open-endedly," Gates told U.S. and Iraqi reporters at a news conference in the capital.

Democrats have seized on Gates' recent remarks as contrary to the White House position. While administration officials have said Democrats are hurting the war effort, Gates said Tuesday the debate in Congress on the war has been helpful in letting Iraqi politicians know the clock is ticking.

"Unlike some in your administration who have been playing politics by criticizing the debate in Congress over responsible timelines, Secretary Gates recognizes that debating the timelines is constructive because it exerts pressure on Iraq's leaders to forge political compromises," House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (news, bio, voting record) and other House Democratic leaders wrote in a letter to Bush.

  • Olbermann reports shooter was a Chinese National, Fox without a clue.?

The Cons constantly lambaste MSNBC as a hotbed of liberalism, never mind that Scarborough and Carlson are much more traditional conservatives than O'Reilly and Hannity.

Anyway, Olbermann reported tonight that an ATF source indicates that the Va Tech shooter is a Chinese national, non-student. He had a great deal of focus on the incident with fresh new details, while BillO, again, led off the Factor with the standard Two Minutes Hate about Rosie and the stupid rap guy that Malkin crucified last week. BillO absolutely did not have the info. that Olbermann did. He did a thorougly uninformative summary with Van Susteren at the very end of the show.

Do you still think that Fox is reporting the news, Fox viewers. Who will bet that Bill will be ALL OVER the story tomorrow if the ATF report turns out to be true, that the shooter was a foreign national.

Just don't believe it when he bills it as a Fox exclusive.

  • What is Cons' reaction to Gingrich acknowledging Global Warming?

Gingrich, in a debate with Kerry the other day, fully and clearly stated that global warming exists and acknowledged that we need to do something about it.

"Former Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry debated former House Speaker (and potential Republican presidential candidate) Newt Gingrich today on the issue of global warming. Perhaps surprisingly, there weren’t nearly as many differences between the men as you might expect. Gingrich praised Kerry’s book on the subject, while Kerry described Gingrich as a generally swell guy.

More interestingly, both agreed that global warming was a problem, likely caused by human activities, in need of urgent action. Gingrich even disagreed with fellow Republican James Inhofe that the concept of global warming is a “hoax” and spoke of a need for a “green conservatism”.

They mainly disagreed about what to do next.."
