Cons: If Al Gore made up Global Warming, why does Bush want to spend $2 Billion on it?

Bush wants to give India and China $2,000,000,000 to fight a problem which, if you believe the average conservative on YA, doesn't even exist.

So when are you going to either: 1)call for impeachment or 2) make a donation to Al Gore's foundation?

"Bush promises $2b for climate fight"

The United States will commit $US2 billion ($2.25 billion) to promote clean energy technologies and fight climate change, President George W Bush said in his final State of the Union speech today.

Mr Bush said the US was "committed to strengthening our energy security and confronting global climate change".

"Let us create a new international clean technology fund, which will help developing nations like India and China make greater use of clean energy sources," he said.

The money will be committed to a new international fund over the next three years."

Update:

Ray: "No one disputes that climate change is real"????

I don't think you read many posts from your fellow conservatives very often. To say the least.

Update 2:

Brad: I think he is trying to salvage his legacy, because he finally realizes the severity of the global warming problem.

Why in the world would he start "catering to liberals" now? I think he's just making a rare concession to reality for a change.

Pretty funny that in this instance, I'm less cynical about Bush than you are.

Update 3:

Patrick G:

"since when does not listening to a crack pot former VP count as a high crime????"

Uh, no, I meant that YOU CONS were going to impeach him for listening to Al Gore. Which he obviously is, to the tune of $2 billion. Get it?

Update 4:

OBX:

He's a lame duck Pres., and he's suddenly all worried about "appeasing extremists"? That would be a stretch even with Bush Logic.

Update 5:

Ray: BTW, looks like about 33% of the responders don't believe that global warming is real, after all.

Update 6:

Ray: I mention conservatives on Yahoo Answers because we are, uh, on Yahoo Answers. What do you want me to do, take it to a Heritage Foundation Roundtable?

Update 7:

Bin Laden: Your Pres. promising $2b large to Gore's pet cause isn't exactly going to "get rid of him".

Sorry to disappoint you.

Hahahaha it makes me laugh to think that some people believe global warming is a get rich quick scheme. I'm sure Al Gore has made a fortune by selling his books and presentations, but how exactly does that disprove the existence of global warming? It's strange that people can actually argue with scientific evidence.

Wow.... you go from not believing global warming to impeachment.... since when does not listening to a crack pot former VP count as a high crime????

Further, Bush may be a republican, but he is not a conservative. Thanks for asking this idiotic question and giving me a laugh.

{edit}.... No I don't get it.... so when did listening to a crack pot former VP equate to a high crime?

Your rant is pathetic. At best it is a simplistic attack on the president that really carries no weight or effectiveness. If you want to bash Bush, then by all means do so, but at least make an intelligent argument.

You are ridiculous. No one disputes that climate change is real and should be addressed but conservatives can point to scientific studies that show that humans don't have the greatest impact on the climate.

George Bush is acting amidst public outcry and trying to secure cleaner ways to generate energy while protecting wildlife. Al Gore, with his inflammatory rhetoric and rush to judgement (that has been disapproved by English courts) has brought attention to a potential problem, not the apocalypse he claims it to be.

The reality is we need to develop cleaner energy from wind and solar energy. And Americans need to stop eating so much beef. We are breeding and breeding more and more cattle to quench our McDonald's-sized hunger every year. The average cow, through methane-induced waste, is the single greatest contributor to global climate change. Indirectly, yes, humans are to blame, but conservatives and many others take offense to Gore's politically-motivated scare tactics of global warming.

Add: I love how the "conservatives" you quote and read are from Yahoo! Answers. Real scientific. As another poster alluded to, back in the 1970's the world was headed for a disastrous "Global Cooling" phase. Those I was referring to are policy-makers who are not rushing to judgement and false urgency, but rather studying hard facts and data to decide how to best combat global change.

Nevertheless, If George Bush happens to clean up the air and leave a cleaner world for generations to come he'll still be attacked by many on the left for something.

It's about common sense and logic...Bush gives the money to appease the extremists who believe in this even thought there still is no scientific evidence to completely prove it.

Can't wait to see what happens in 20 years and the earth continues to cycle toward a cold spell

Then we will have "Global Freezing and Al Gone can find another way to snowball people into believing even more nonsense.

Maybe Al Gore promised him a cut of his carbon credit company profits.

Honestly, Bush is trying to come up with a legacy by catering to liberals. He doesn't realize that he will eventually be remembered as a hero and savior of Iraq, so he is caving to environmental wacko's in order to gain favor from people who will just sh$t on him either way.

Libs, don't give Gore that much credit. He didn't make up global warming. People don't doubt that global warming is happening, they differ on the reasons for it. In fact, they differ from Gore's rants. That is why we still don't take him seriously. It's all emotion and factless.

Good point! The neocons are really the ones that deny global warming. The garden variety cons find it too difficult to understand.
