Always try to send cards or some type contact to let your child know you love them. Also, never show anger towards the spouse.I it is very hard to do, bad person or bad behavior that is the question? I would get a lawyer, and file a police report for a kidnapping. This is not a drama that sells books. It's a common everyday occurrence and it's shameful if not criminal.
I'm father of a six year old boy and if this happened to me I would be on the hunt for my son like no movie drama you could ever imagine. This is not a topic to be taken lightly.

Is this a comedy, drama, horror? There are only so many plots that exist, choose one. Find a real life person that you can ask and use them as a model for your character. Incorporate all the five sense of who that model is, their mannerisms, expressions they commonly use, experiences they convey. The best writing comes from real life, not Yahoo Q&A.
