I have a 1995 monte carlo thats having problems?

At first it started to vibrate when I turned on the car . So I was I parked it and planned on taking it in to get it checked. I tryed to start the car and it would not start and was on E when I just put in a gallon on my way home before I parked it . So I put in more gas and it took a minute to start and started to smell like gas and black smoke was coming out the muffeler in back and I try to drive it to my dads house to look at but it did not make it it ran out of gas again. So I wanted to know if any one hade any idea whats going on with my car cause I dont know any thing and I just bought the car and the person told me that it did not have any problems and when I test drove it.It did not do any of this and seemed fine but any ways do you think this is going to cost alot.My dad dont know whats wrong ether.
