How do/ did you celebrate Yom Ha'atzma'ut?

Happy Independence Day, my Israeli brethren!

How do you, or did you, celebrate the holiday?

Update:

I had a terrific holiday.

We had a very nice ceremony at the Kibbutz, and I had the honor to be the Daglan and raise the flag from Yom HaZikaron's half-staff. At the evening we had a Shirah-Birah (community singing and free drinks) that lasted 'till morning, and today I had a magnificent barbecue with my family.

Yom Ha'atzmaut is the best!

We had an organized trip to Atlit, and our ceremony there was very moving! Then we had a harkada and sang halel.

Afterwards, I went to the concerts in Re'anana this year...erm yeah I know. I could do better... you guys sounded like you had a great time doing more meaningful things.

I slept at my friend's house there and in the morning continued to our cousins' house. It's a tradition that the whole family get together at yom ha'atzmaut for...what else- a bbq.

It's so cool to hear how others celebrate in Spain, or the Netherlands. It makes me realize--HELLO IM LIVING HERE. better make good use of that...

Well, I live in Spain, but not in a cosmopolitan city like Barcelona, Madrid or Palma de Mallorca... unfortunately here in Las Palmas the Jewish community is very small and most of the people simply don´t even care about anything... so, I invited some friends for dinner and we had a party... that´s all, should be something diferent, but life is like that, you can´t always get what you want...................

For me and my family there is a tradition of celebrating Yom Azmaut night at our Moshav (This year we had a special 25th anniversary for the Moshav) with lots of friends and a public Mangal with all the families (about 250 families !).

The next day we went to the sea and got together with our best friends for a great time of eating steaks, self-made Pitot on the fire, Poike with lots of goodies, a bit of surfing and especially a lots of laughing together.

It is a very special day for us and I really enjoy reading about all of you who celebrate it outside of Israel. It's nice to see some friends of Israel on the Internet.

Happy Yom Ha'atzma'ut to you too, achi! :-)

I actually celebrated it on Saturday with my synagogue.

We sang a bunch of songs (like HaTikva, Jerusalem of Gold..ect), danced, ate a BUNCH of food, then had a huge party at someone's house afterward.

    I had an awesome time!

And how have you celebrated this wonderful holiday? I hope you had a great one!

It's like the Israeli Independence Day. commemorates the declaration of independence of Israel in 1948.
