Parrots.....?

I have heard that they cut the front of the tongue of the parrot, to make them talking.

Is this really true??

Update:

PS: I’m not intending to get a parrot; I just heard this and found it very grotesque...

This is something people use to do a long time ago (can't remember how long ago, sorry) because they thought it was the only way to get a parrot to talk.

Cutting a parrot's tongue is very cruel, and has nothing to do with it mimicing sounds. I doubt anyone does this any more.

This is a complete untruth, splitting parrots tongues will not make them talk any better as they do not use their tongues to make the sounds. They are all produced in the birds throat and the beak is a resonating chamber.

It is also cruel and painful for the bird.

Care sheets and training tips are free on my site.
