Law Mediator?

How is a loaw mediator better than a regular family attorney? What is the difference?

Update:

I was a little confused. When searching for an attorney, I came across a couple with Certified Law Mediator beside their names. I'm just not sure what it means. May sound simple, but I'm new to this! Thanks;)

A law mediator is a neutral party and is not an advocate for you. They "mediate" between two parties. A regular family attorney would advocate for you and your interests. Mediators are usually attorneys that do mediation along side their regular practice and mediate cases that they have no involvement in.

If you want an attorney who fights hard, don't get one that says mediator by their name. It means they're used to compromising and being diplomatic and such. You want one who fights for what you want.

a mediator for family law cases very often IS a family law attorney.

A mediator tries to assiste parties to reach a settlement.

A family law attorney advocates for one party or the other.

    A mediator is neutral

A family law attorney represents his/her client's interests, and therefore is NOT neutral

Source(s): An attorney representing a party CANNOT be a mediator.
