Mice on the second story?

Happened to me last year. I feed the birds on my balcony, and a mouse family found a way onto the balcony, AND chewed a hole in my baseboard where the balcony meets the patio door. I glue-trapped them and put bathroom caulk in the hole where they got into the building. I was warned by the man at Lowe's NOT to use poison, because they would crawl inside the walls of my apartment and die, and then stink to high heaven, and nobody would be able to get them out. He suggested putting steel wool (SOS) in the hole (there's always a hole).

Don't worry about trapping your cat, he's too big for that, especially if you put one behind your sofa. The worse it'll do is stick to him long enough for you to notice him knocking down your furniture trying to get it off! The mouse, on the other hand, is rather powerless in the goo. It's amazing. I didn't believe simple glue would work, but it does. The best place to put it, of course, is in front of the hole they go in and out of. Of course, then you've got the disgusting job of disposing of the trapped animal. If you've found him before he dies in the trap, it's possible to peel him off the trap and put him in a jar and take him to the wilderness, but whatever you do, don't flush him down the toilet because he will clog!

So ask your boyfriend why I have mice in my attic? Of course they can be on the second floor, third floor, etc. Their toe nails are such they can easily climb between the walls, up drywall, wood beams, etc. They climb stairs easily.

With the cat I wouldn't put out Decon or other poisons. Use traps, set them under the couch, under the sinks, whereever the cat doesn't go. There are also cat "motels" like the roach motels, that capture the mouse but won't let it back out......that might be the best answer for you.

Just to make you day, the mouse could be living in your couch, using the filling as nesting material.......that will give you creeps, sorry. Also they like to get into boxes in the closet, so inspect every box in the house for a small opening.....before you open the box.

a little cheese placed on a nice mouse trap, situated under the kitchen sink, will be deadly to the mouse and not the cat. Then you can show your boyfriend, just how much he knows!

hi i would suggest, that you dont use those sticky mouse traps,cause you cat could get stuck too. So use the old fashion SNAP type,but use creamy peanutbutter, something they can run off with.
