Have you ever heard of such a thing...three breast lumps developing in two weeks??

I need some advise from women with experience. I had bloody discharge from my left breast, so I went to the doctor. At the initial exam, she found no lumps in that breast, but found two in my right, which she thought were glandular and not alarming. A sample of the discharge was sent to the lab and my prolactin level was tested. I also had a mammogram that came back clear. When I went back a week later for followup, a third, very large (1x3cm) lump was found laying on top of my rib which was not there before. The discharge showed abnormal cells and my prolactin level is normal. I followup with a surgeon on Monday.

Last night I found two more lumps...one in each breast, for a total of four in my right and one in my left breast. (It's been less than a week since my last exam.) Those areas are painful at times, like their growing is stretching the tissues around it, but the lump itself is not painful.

Can cancer be this aggressive??

Update:

My glucose is "perfect" and thyroid is fine, too. Sorry I forgot to mention this before.

Update 2:

As it turns out, the lumps are apparantly fibrocystic changes, nothing to be concerned about. He recommended Vitamin E and Selenium.

The abnormal cells are a problem, though. I'm having surgery to remove the ducts of that breast and the tissue will be biopsied to check for malignancy. There's no way to tell before this if it's cancerous or not. The numbers say ten to fifteen percent chance of malignancy, eighty percent chance of being benign, and five to ten percent chance of not finding anything. I'm glad to be rid of it.

And the best part about it...it's an outpatient surgery with recovery time of less than a week. Thank God!!

First, don't get scared.I come from a family full of breast cancer survivors. 80% of all breast lumps are benign. I've had to get a mammo every year since I was 19. In October the found lumps in my left breast. Didn't show up on my mammo. Talked to a surgeon everything. Come to find out they were just firm glands. Listen although research has come along way its still not there yet for breast cancer. Sometimes cancer is aggressive, breast cancer cell grow more rapid in pregnant women, and older (lower immune). Just remember to follow up and keep a level head.Finding lumps early is scary but on the medical side its good. If it is small tumors, doesn't mean it is cancer. I know that sounds crazy but its true. It could be just fibrocystic changes, can cause lumps and discharge. Not cancer. Intraductal papillomas, growths in the breast tissue can do the same. But breast cancer isn't going to pop up over night. Its like a snowball effect. It grows overtime then you can finally feel them when they are live pea size. You will be fine just stay calm.

There is one neoplastic (cancerous) condition that is similar to this; it is not the usual thing we call "breast cancer", but it is serious. There are several other possible causes for rapidly formed, bleeding lumps, none of them without concern. The pathologist will let your doctor know what the contents of these lumps are. If you have been referred to a surgeon, the pathology report was cause for concern. The surgeon will explain, better than anyone on Yahoo, what you are facing and what you can do about it. The only advice possible without actually looking at the specimens and the pathology report is, "do not waste any time." If it is the worst case, prompt surgery may be the only chance to save your life.
