what would it profit a man if he should gain the whole world and lose his own soul?

all the world goods are nothing to be compared to the soul of men. things here are temporal and soon vanish , but God has a eternal life prepared.. for those who accept him and repent of their sins..is it so hard for folks to say lord Jesus forgive my sins?

A man who gains the whole world profits a great deal, especially since he has no soul to lose. If I had a soul and could sell it, I would exchange it for endless loving intimacy with the woman I love....Alas I have no soul to sell and so like most men, must beg, grovel and crawl on my belly in servitude to profit even a little from her attentions. At moments like these I wish God were real and I had a soul to sell to the devil for a little lovin'. An eternity in hell could not obliterate the memory of a lifetime of loving from the one I want. Sigh! Never can find the Devil when I want him...oh well back to grovelling....

It's easy enough to say "Lord forgive my sins." It's harder to follow Jesus' command, "Go and sin no more." And that is the important thing -- to change our lives so that we live in a Christ-like manner. We need the help of God that comes to us in prayer, in the Eucharist and in the fellowship of the Church. You are right that material goods are nothing compared to your eternal soul.

Since soul never dies there fore he will have the world and soul both. In the present day life ,when we live in materialist world soul has become secondary and we do sell our soul for illegal money also. In spite of selling the same it remains with us to cheat others again. Thus the soul is reimburse able item.

    It would profit him nothing.

Yes the first step is repentance, also we need to read the bible and follow His instructions.

Jesus said the most important thing was to love God with all of our hearts, minds, souls, and strength and to love our neighbors as our selves.

We need to follow up on our decision to ask Jesus to forgive our sins with action. We are saved by grace through faith, and we need to remember that faith without works (action) is useless.

Keep shining the light of Jesus!

unfortunately yes, people tend to hang on to what they see because they have no faith in the unseen. personal pleasure, money, power have immediate gratification. unlike Gods promise of eternity in Heaven. ironicly there will be pleasure beyond belief in Heaven for those of us who get there, power is nothing but an illusion anyway, and gold is nothing but a rock of no real value. you can tell because in Heaven that's what they use to pave the roads.

...Folks can say a lot, but it takes an act of God's grace to regenerate a lost sinner.

...Ephesians 2:1-2 says we are dead in sins and trespasses, spiritual corpses, who are absolutely helpless. Then the Apostle Paul goes on to talk about God's great mercy and love, in Ephesians 2:

...4 But God, being rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us,

...5 even when we were dead in our transgressions, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved),

...6 and raised us up with Him, and seated us with Him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus,

...7 so that in the ages to come He might show the surpassing riches of His grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.

...Keep on preaching the Gospel, and God will give the increase.

When a person is proud & with self righteous thinking, it is too difficult to humble themself to confess they were wrong about Jesus, and confess Jesus Christ Lord of their life.

Sometimes they just have to hit rock bottom.
