Why is it no one seems to know the difference between "your" and "you're"?
these two words have completely different meanings. one is a contraction of you are and the other is a possessive adjective. how does "is this what your wearing" make any sense at all?? it's not only your and you're. there is also "their" "they're" and "there", and "it's" and "its", among other grammatical atrocities, that make me want to strangle a kitten.
did i really get that much better of an education that i can differentiate between these words?
learn english people!!

Well, I think it has to do with the horrible school systems our country is spouting out every day.
I learned early on how to find my mistakes, and I knew the proper definition and usage of your and you're (as well as there, their, and they're) by 3rd grade. I STILL find people making those mistakes.
It's frustrating beyond belief.
We need more spelling overviews, tests, and better teaching tactics to drill it into childrens' minds (since it's proven that they learn better when they are younger), that there IS a difference. Your is POSSESSIVE, you're is a CONTRACTION OF "You" AND "Are". Just like wouldn't, couldn't, would not, could not.
But hey, if it becomes habitual, then it's probably too late by adulthood.

Seax Wicca has almost nothing to do with Heathenism persay except for a reverence for the same group of gods, major differences appear in the way each group practices this reverence. Wiccatru is I suppose the Heathen version of a fluffy bunny. It may sound as though Wicca is being insulted by the use of this word but that's not really the intention, I'm sure most Wiccans get upset with some of the people on the fringes of their religion as well. The thing about Ásatrú/Germanic polytheism is that we generally take a very dim view on syncretism, in other words we don't like borrowing methodology, dieties, symbolism etc etc from other religions or cultures we simply prefer to use our own which we can trace back through archaeology, literature and history to the people who practiced our ways before us. This is not to say that syncretism is wrong persay, you can do and believe whatever you want but we generally take our ways very seriously and this can lead us to distance ourselves from people who appear not to. I think the best way to describe this is something HP said (at least I think it was her) "It's not can you be Ásatrú but can you be Ásatrú with me"

I agree, but have you noticed that many of these people are excellent in math or logic? For example, my hubby cannot spell well at all, but he can run circles around me when it comes to these subjects.
It is still annoying, though, no doubt about it. How about "to," "too" and "two?" It's not that difficult to learn the differences.
However, the one that I still have problems with is "lay" and "lie!" I think English is one of the hardest languages to learn.

You're right about this one! Like with many things, if you try to point out their ignorance, they get all offended, but do they fix it? No! Ignorance to things just means you are not educated about them, it's not like I'm calling them idiots or anything, even though if you're 30 years old and still writing like that...well, you know.

Not all ppl pay attention in class when they r at school. BUT other ppl genuinely have a problem remembering it, no matter how hard they try,....its the same issue with they're, their and there.

It's the same with 's and plural s. My boss at work does it backward every time. He'll write something like "charge Ted Landrys order's."
