Heavy weight fusible stabilizer?
I'm going to sew a hanging organizer w/pockets for my daughter. The pattern calls for heavy weight fusible stabilizer. I'm new to sewing and don't really know what I'm looking for. Any suggestions on brands or anything? And also is this something I can buy like at Wal-Mart or am I going to have to go to a quilting or sewing store? Thanks.

Walmart may have it, if your Walmart hasn't closed its fabric department. Or go to a fabric store; their staff always know what they're doing and are very helpful. Pellon is one brand, but don't worry about the brand, just find the fusible interfacing and buy one that is stiff. It will say "heavy" on the end of the roll or say that it is for medium ot heavy fabrics.
Here is a link to something that would work, and that you can buy online or in a fabric store: http://www.hancockfabrics.com/shopping/product/det...

I don't use fusible interfacing anymore. When you fuse it to your fabric, it causes the fabric to shrink and then the pieces don't fit properly together. You can buy heavy weight interfacing at Walmart. Ask the salesperson if you need help.
I've made the hanging organizer with the sew in interfacing and it looks great. Happy sewing!

You could use pellon peltex. They made pelltex 70, which is not fusible, & costs 4.99 a yard. Peltex 71 is fusible on 1 side, & is 7.99 per yard. Peltex 72 is fusible on both sides, & is 8.99 a yard. I usually use fast2fuse on my fabric, & then fuse it to the peltex 70.

joanns fabrics , walmart might have it, i get the stiffest pellon made and usually thats sew in but you can also fuse more than one layer on, just ask at the store which one is the heaviest. you can even buy some with one inch grid squares printed on it, that way you know you are lining it up straight with the edges of the fabric,

Yep, the Walmart in this area has it. It may be called craft fusing. It irons on with a hot dry iron, but can be washed after construction. I use it a lot, it's fool proof - but make sure the sticky side doesn't touch you iron or ironing board pad. It's can be a little difficult.
