I live within 25 miles of the world's largest concentration of refineries, Houston, Texas. The capacity is there despite what they try to insist in order to drive up prices. Be forewarned, water is the next "commodity" investors are eyeing.
The Bush family is from CT and moved to TX to be in the oil biz. They are close personal friends with the Saudi royal family. And then there is Cheney. Search for ANADARKO OIL on the net.
To all those fine english gentlemen who replied, Your gov't is the reason the gas taxes have driven prices so high. Of course, it is such a small country, you probably don't use a lot of it.

Stop driving your own car and use public transportation. I doubt people are motivated enough to do that.

How about we build a refinery? There has not been one in 31 years. The ones we have are old and outdated and have been breaking down. It is not an oil problem, but a refining problem.
How about all gas taxes are a flat rate? It costs me 30 cents more in CT than NJ for gas. This is strictly a tax issue.

If this could work, I know I am sure for it, no gas on the 15th. But you need to get off the militaries back, its not there fault. Gas is so high for two reasons, one the Federal and states taxes which is robbery by the them. Second we're to chicken to just take it, and to heck with everybody else.

Your boycott will be as useless as t*ts on a boar! I do not fu*king believe the ignorance of our population.Oil prices are controlled by the world market (arabs, asshole chavez/venezuella, nigeria,russia,canada,etc...)The biggest b*tch should be against our home grown enviro facists that will not allow the USA to drill for oil on our OWN land. These are the same a*sholes that keep whining about depending on foreign oil.Don't you lib morons think its time we got rid of the foreign sources of oil and DRILLED OUR OWN!!!!!!!!!!!

Let's see if the Washington crowd participates. LOL
I agree, if everyone in the US could go ONE day and not purchase a single drop of gasoline.......the profit loss to the oil companies would be immense......maybe enough to make them sit up and take notice.

No, silly.
Nice try for communism, but it don't fly, honey.)
Democrats will not allow us to drill in Anwr, on Oil Rich Govt Land, or much of the Off Shore Area.
WE DESERVE HIGH GAS PRICES FOR VOTING IN DEMOCRATS.
So do what the Democrats say: pay $4.00 a gallon and only use One Square of Toilet Paper Per Sitting.
Cool!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm going to use as much as I can afford in my personal support of the DOW. We need more CEO's making a hundred million a year, raise the prices I say.

It won't work. Think about it: prices are based on supply & demand. If we all boycotted for one day, chances are we are all going to need it at the same time, thus the demand will go up and the supply will go down. That will drive up the price, so ulitimately it is a bad idea.

What? That is cheap. Stop whining. Try paying $8 converted for a gallon in Britain. You guys have got nothing to cry about you are getting it cheap.

There are several methods of combatting the costs of fossil fuels...Carpooling, organizing your shopping, purchasing a more fuel efficient vehicle, making use of public transportation, and slowing down highway speeds are but a few examples.

I have no car and therefore spend $0 on gas, but if I happen to get a car by then, I will support you boycott!
