Dogs loose in yard - Neighbors !?

I am sure this is a common problem across the country.

As in my area my country home became a city in the booming sprawl. Both of my neighbors have large dogs. Now I love animals. But constantly crossing over onto my property disturbing my family, even scaring them needs to stop. What do I do? Put up a fence at my own expense? I have 5 acres of land that is thousands of dollars. Complain to the city?

There is a leash law, but is it really enforceable?

Suggestions on how to handle. Both neighbors are repeat offenders. I enjoy my privacy and peace. HELP.

As a dog owner it was hard at first to train my lady. In your case I think the neighbours need to be trained. If a friendly chat doesn't work which I think you should try first. the second would be that each pay a third of the cost for a fence. I know it does not sound fair. But when you have people who live with pets and let them run at will do you really think that they will be over joyed to foot the bill for a fence around your property. Speak to them or call your local dog catcher. Maybe they will retrain their animals if they are charged for the return of their animal. I do wish you the best of luck

Not sure about where you are, but here a dog is not allowed to be off its owners property without a leash. To allow any dog, but especially the larger breeds to run loose is irresponsible.

Dogs found wondering around are taken to the pound. And a dog that is menacing - barking, snapping or actually biting, can not only be taken to the pound but the owners can be charged for allowing the menace to happen.

First notify the neighbors in writing, that their dogs are wondering, that they have menaced you family, and that you intend to ask the pound to pick them up if they enter you property again. Let them know when you have seen the dogs loose. That way they have no recourse if the dogs are picked up.

Then contact your local council/city to see what you can do. Let them know at the time the dogs are loose and on your property.

Furthermore if the area is classed as rural, any dog found to be menacing to stock can be shot, as a protective measure. At least that's the way the law stands here.

Have you tried talking to the neighbors and telling them to put their dogs on a leash, or that their dogs are entering your yard and needs to stop? Maybe tell them all the problems that is occuring. If it's really bad, complain to the city.

If you like your privacy, definately put up a fence. It should keep the dogs away, and you have all your privacy. But if for some reason doesn't stop the dogs, def. complain to the city

Talk to your neighbors. Let them know that you love dogs, but that you don't want them on your property for several reasons.

If they are compassionate people, they'll respect your request.

If they are jerks about it, call the humane society and file a complaint. I don't know what the laws are in the state in which you live, but if they continue to be repeat offenders, there should be a penalty.

Just be sure to handle the issue diplomatically.... after all, you have to live next to these people. You don't want to cause a rift.

If there is a lease law then it IS enforceable. I would start by contacting the owners of the dogs if you can. If not, contact your local law enforcement. If the problem doesn't get resolved then and you want to fence in your property, you can ask that the neighbors pay for half of the fence adjoining the two properties.

Put up the fence. A good fence makes for good neighbors.

They should be keeping their dogs in their own yards but if they wander it is up to property own to fence them in as well as fence others out. In your case it would be to fence them out.

You could talk to your neighbors & if that doesn't work contact your local animal control. Put out Dog Traps. then call animal to come take the dog out of the cage. The animal control can probable loan you the trap. That's what my mother had to do. Dogs dug into her yard.

post a fence or get a brilliant exterior kennel on your dogs. Then the different dogs can no longer get to her and you do no longer might desire to stay out and look ahead to that dogs. additionally call the police or animal administration whenever you spot the dogs out even in the adventure that your dogs is interior. I had friends that could permit there dogs aggressive canines out to run around. They tried to attacked my canines nicely i became walking them on leashes. I mentioned as the police for 6 months everytime they have been out. Now the proprietors have a small dogs run of their returned backyard.

If it bothers you that much and all other options are pretty much impossible just put up a fence anyways then you can have your peace and privacy. Otherwise it will continue to happen and you'll be unhappy FOREVER. j/k You could always tell the neighbors about it and goes halfs with the expense. Good luck

Have you spoken to each of your neighbors? That would be my first thing to do. I know if I had my dog running all over the place (which I dont) and disturbing my neighbors I'd sure like to know.
