What are the names of the persons, or bands that did remakes of Bob Dylan's All Along The Watchtower?

The Jimi Hendrix Experience, U2, Dave Matthews Band, Prince, Dionysis Savvopoulos, Neil Young, Grateful Dead, Elton John, Pearl Jam, Eric Clapton, John Mellencamp, and Lenny Kravitz. Some of these were live performances and never on an album.

The only important ones are those by Hendrix and later by XTC, both as declarations of the new styles. For some reason I keep thinking that Ritchie Blackmore also did it with Rainbow, but I can't guarantee - who cares about them anyway. Even if they did, it's probably just a pale copy of Hendrix's version.

The Grateful Dead, after they had teamed with Dylan for a tour and about four dozen jam bands that play it because of them.

The two I know about are Jimi Hendrix and U2.

For me, the best was Jimi Hendrix. he did a kickass job on that song!
