Why dont people like to get wet!?

More of a psychological question, but humans are what? 80-something % water? We bathe in water, we drink water, we LIKE to swim! Yet, you spill water on someone and it's the end of the world! It rains, and people run in panic for the nearest dry shelter. Why do people have such an aversion to getting wet?

1). Dry is our natural environment, and being human, we try to control our enviornment. Any loss of control is a bummer.

2). If we're worried about our appearance being less than perfect, rain will do that. Water makes mascara run (which is a turn on for me personally....), flattens hair do's, causes clothes to stick to the skin.

3). Probably quite a bit more that we can think of.

Not sure what other people feel, but i wouldn't want to get wet when i don't expect it. Like getting hot coffee on me (its not the wetness but the temperature of the liquid being different from my own body temp). And when it rains and i expect to be going somewhere of course i wouldn't want to arrive in my destination looking like a wet rag. If not rain doesn't bother me. I love it when it rains.

I think its the fear of getting cold on a not so hot day as most people seem to love to get wet during a heat wave.

Grunts don't mind getting rained on its part of the job description.

When I was a kid I used to climb on top of our house during summer storms and soak it up.

However no one wants to be drenched when shopping or reporting for work it just ain't fun!

because the liquid is usually to clod or to hot. and when we do get wet on purpose, we usually have some control over the temp
