Pokemon not saving?
I just tried to play my pokemon silver version for the first time in a couple years, and i started a new game and i saved it and all and then i turned it off and when i came back later to play there was no continue option, only the new game option. I tried this a couple more times and i'm never able to continue a game. Its like it isnt saving. Is this something i can fix and how?

Yeah, it's busted, dude. You can either play without saving it, but that will take you hours (even by rushing the game), or you can buy another silver version (or better).

First of all, I wasn't aware that there WAS a sliver version, but I've had this problem as well. In my case, I was playing the GBA cartridge on my DS, and it didn't save. I called Nintendo about the problem, and they said that some old games will just not save on a DS, and that I needed to start a new game and save it on a GBA, and then play it on a DS after the save file had been created.

You need a CR2025 (I used a CR2032 as I had heaps and just fits) BUT BE WARNED THESE BATTERIES WILL EXPLODE IF OVERHEATED. Or take the old one to a battery pack manufacture and they will make one up for you, If you use a CR2032 it will last about 50% longer.
How to access battery;
remove screw, I used small needle nosed pliers. Slide top cover up about 6mm and remove. Desolder old battery and replace. The battery I had I found I had to use Stainless steel flux and verry hot iron and worked well.
Put battery back onto board OBSERVING CORRECT POLARITIES, IE. + TO + AND - TO - making sure there is no shorts and reassemble.
The other alternative is to contact Nintendo and see if they can and how much they will charge you to replace battery
Enjoy

I have Pokemon Gold with same problem with you... But,, I know how to solve it... Try to open the your pokemon cartridge and you will see big battery inside (circle big Lithium battery). Change it with the new one,,, But careful or it will damage your pokemon cartridge. I have tried it and it work ! But sometimes your pokemon game will error and the save file will lost, since you already open the cartridge. Hope it will help you,,,
