I'm into poetry...?

I like writing poetry, and my teachers, parents, and friends have always complimented me on my writings. I have a decent life, and nothing to hate myself for. But all I seem to write about is suicide and depression. I'm not like obsessed with that sort of stuff, but it comes easily when I write. Is that really wierd?? Help please?!

I apologize, but I'm going to get off-topic here.

There was this old show on Nickelodeon, "As Told By Ginger", and there was this episode when the main character, Ginger, wrote a poem and it was complimented, but everyone felt that she was lonely since the poem had a lonely profound meaning towards it. Ginger didn't understand what they meant until her dad, who had a divorce with her mom, left her a message and she had realized that she wrote this poem subconsciously about her dad who left her.

And I'm not going to jump to conclusions to say that you're writing about someone subconsciously and that you might be suicidal and depressed without even realizing. That's your call. You're not weird, though, just different. Usually people who write about stuff had experienced their writings. If this came easily, you're much more experienced and intelligent than you might think you are.

I am like you. I like to write the same type of poetry as you do and I am not like that. A lot of times when it comes to poetry and you writing it you start to look around and write what you see or how you feel about what you see. It is not weird at all or something that you should be worried about.

You're different. Not weird. There's a MAJOR difference there. Just because you're good at writing stuff about being depressed doesn't mean you are! It makes you an individual, someone who is special, and different from everyone else.

.....Poetry is the figurative expression of feelings. Poets write about the things they know about. Perhaps you are most comfortable writing about your feelings. You probably have strong feelings, so the poems come out strong. Not to worry...

    It's not wierd at all.

It's often easy to write about things that have never happened to you - i.e. suicide and depression. Usually when someone has these things thrust upon them, it becomes hardered from them to express their feelings about it.

So, not strange at all. Keep writing!
