wow.. seems like everyone knows how to raise everybody else's child except the mother. everybody's a critic.
i've never done it. my son is only 4 months old. but i've heard of parents giving their babies whole milk early if their babies' diet consisted mainly of solids before they reached 1 yr. don't know if it's true or not.
*edit*
this is far from a cat fight. what this is, is people passing judgement and assuming that she's giving an 8 month old (not necessarily) whole milk and giving her a lecture on why it's not a good idea rather than answering her question and giving her advice on what she asked. no cat fight here. a cat fight would have consisted of words like "*****", "whore", and "slut" bring thrown around.
*another edit*
and now my first edit looks pointless cause the answerer really withdrew her answer

sorry, but from your first question is does sound like you are switching your 8 month old baby to whole milk.
so why would you get so upset if people are concerned and say its not a good idea. which it is not.
actually babies can develop an allergy for anything. they are not always born allergic to something.
Neither whole milk or any food has the nutrients and vitamins and minerals that breast milk or formula provides and is crucial for babies development and growth. just because someone did it and their baby is "fine" does not mean they would not be healthier if they had not done it.

my ped. actually told me to start weaning my son off the formula and start giving him whole milk. (he is 9 mths old) however he is HUGE!!!! 31 1/2 inches and 23 pounds. he is bigger than the average 1 y/o. i would take 1 bottle the first week and make it 1/2 and 1/2 (1/2 formula 1/2 milk) the rest of his food intake did not change..just that one bottle..then i did some reading and found that doing that can cause a higher risk of diabetes and allergies so i called the ped and they told me i didnt have to give him milk now it was just a suggestion b/c the formula is just nothing but calories and he was so big i needed to cut some of them out..
hope that is somewhat of what you were looking for.
he would have his normal formula when he woke up..cereal a couple hrs later... he would nap.. another bottle (1/2 and 1/2)...then his dinner he would eat a fruit and a vegetable.. then a bottle b4 bed.. each bottle is about 9-10 oz.

fairly of cows milk in porridge or mixed with different foodstuff is positive at this age even though it really is not cautioned giving a 8 month old infant cows milk to drink (a minimum of no more desirable than couple of sips). it really is not all about them being allergic to dairy, it really is extra about cows milk being harder to congest than formula or for sure breast milk. this would bring about abdomen or gut issues later in life.

My doctor had me start weaning my kids onto whole milk starting at 9 months. I did this with all three of my kids. They still did have formula though in addition to milk until age one.
Between 9 months and age one I also got them mainly on table foods - lots of mushier foods, like soups, pastina pasta, veggies cooked well done, soft fruits, yogurt, etc....
Hope this helps!

Why would you give your baby milk at 8 months?? If a baby was allergic to milk, at that age he/she could end up in the hospital. You should not endanger your child like that, they need the nutrition of formula/breastmilk at that age.
