How old fashioned can she be if you haven't seen her for such a long time? I mean that's five Christmas parties. Just tell mom that they are special because they remind you of certain events in your life. Even if they don't. Tell her that this one reminds me of my first skipping lesson or whatever. Or you can just get her inebriated and show her and then it will be all over.

NO, YOU will freak her out.... If you can hide them do so why shock the heck out of her.. If you can't and she's naive then just say they aren't permanent. but if shes too smart then only show the ones that are visible... some mom's don't understand personnel expression through body art..

I feel she'll just be happy to see, with or without tattoos. If I hadn't seen my son in five years, I wouldn't be concerned with a mark or two. I'd just want to hug and kiss him and tell him how much I love him.
