Java Updates question?

I was cleaning up my computer and noticed that I have several java updates taking a lot of space up on my drive. They are from Java 5.0, I have just updated to Java 6.0. Can I erase the 5.0 updates?

    i think java 6.0 would replace java 5.0

    I noticed that my music down load pgms wouldn't work with Java 6.0...so i deleted it.
