Do miniature Pincher's have a lot of health problems?
I want to buy a Miniature Pincher, but people have told me that these dogs come with a lot of health issues. Is that true?
Do they get along with other dogs?

The Miniature Pinscher is a fairly heathly compared to many other breeds. Some of the breed's major problems are patellar luxation, (slipping knee caps) cervical (dry) disc, legg-calve perthes, epilepsy, thyroid, heart defects and eye problems in varying degrees of severity. There are more problems but these are the major concern at this time.> http://www.minpin.org/health.htm

As far as I know, mini pinschers are very healthy and good in small spaces, like apartments. They live to be about 15 years and don't need a lot of exercise. However, I have heard they are very tempermental and are barkers. They can be aggressive toward other dogs and strangers, until they get comfortable with them and then they place nicely. They're good with kids, too.
Their temperment is dependent on your behavior toward them, and your training of them, as well. They are loyal dogs, but easily spoiled. They're smart, so if you get them started with something, such as giving them a treat just to get them to stop barking, they will learn that reward and expect it every time.

I have a one-year-old min pin and so far she hasn't had any health problems. Min pins HAVE to be inside dogs and mine does bark a lot when strangers are around. She's also a chewer, but other than that, she's a great dog. I also have a mutt and he and my min pin are best buddies. They both love playing with other dogs.

I had one put down because of cancer. I have two others and a bulldog and they all get along beautifully. Other than the cancer, there have been no unusual health problems.
