Why do so many people bash our president and our troops?
Like it or not people, we are at WAR. People die. Civilians die. Please tell me why so many people cannot just accept the fact that we are at war and give our president and especially our troops support. I am sick and tired of hearing all the bullsh*t about people saying this war is a crime and we are killing innocent people. Please people remember that those people are killing us. Please give me some feedback as to why people are so against our brave men and women and our president. Please....I am curious
All right Chickenhawk and Sky....I am a soldier fighting in Iraq, only home for a couple of months before another deployment. Sky, I am a true American who respects the thoughts and views of all people, whether American or other. I am not one of these blind dumbass people who say stuff off the top of their heads without really thinking about it first. I simply asked a simple question. If you looked at my profile, I just signed onto this service yesterday, so I am just asking my first question. I havn't looked around much, and I'm sorry if I have offended you by asking a question that has been asked so many times before. Like I said, I will continue to respect your opinions, I just wanted to know why...Good night and God bless you all

Honestly, I hate our president. He is one of the worst leaders our country has ever seen. However I support our troops. I am married to one, who also happens to hate our president. I hate the president because he lied to us, he made us believe that Iraq was behind 9-11 and they had WMDs. Where was al queda before we attacked Iraq? Not in Iraq!! Where are the WMDs? Why did he veto a bill that passed in the senate, the house and that the majority of Americans (and Iraqis) support? Because Iraq has oil. He has huge connections to oil companies and stands to make a killing. Why do you think Bush and quite a few of the republicans in our government are against and immediate withdrawal from Iraq? Because they stand to make a lot of money in oil and Halliburton. Cheney alone has over 10 million dollars of Halliburton stock. I'm sorry, but that is way to much money for our vice president to have in the top company rebuilding Iraq for it to be a coincidence. These people are supposed to be public servants, not the other way around.
But anyways, I agree we need to support our troops. Our troops are not to blame for the actions of our government. They are brave men and women who put their lives on the line every day. They are good people who deserve our undying respect and support. They are our brothers, our sisters, our mothers and fathers, our sons and daughters. They are our family and we need to make sure they know that and that their family knows that. It is a hard job being a military wife. But when I see my husband in his uniform I feel an amazing sense of pride. If we are out in public he still to this day gets smiles, handshakes and words of encouragement and praise from complete strangers. I think that makes his job, and mine, completely worth it.

I don't like to out-and-out say this, but I have no reason to believe you are military. If you're a "Soldier fighting in Iraq" and you just got redeployed back to CONUS, I find it difficult you would have only 2 months to recover before redeploying, considering the entire SRP process is as long and agonizing as it is. Furthermore, if you're on leave, unless you're on emergency leave or convalescence leave, I very much doubt your Chain of Command would let you go for two whole months. If you have unit affiliation and places you have served, kindly state them. There's no need to dump all the information off your CAC card online, just the basics of where you've been and what MOS function you perform.
That having been said, support for the C-in-C is entirely different from support for the troops. The President is ultimately a politician, who the people are entitled to vote in or out of office (and all you people complaining about Iraq need to be reminded the American public put him back in for a SECOND term when Iraq was really going down the tubes). It's not like the C-in-C has to kick down doors and man TCPs, so what's the big deal about linkage? He's near the end of his term anyhow.
I'm pretty vocal about the fact that the C-in-C's entourage (Feith, Bolton, Wolfowitz, Bremer et al) have, through sheer malicious incompetence, pushed the nation to the edge of a cliff. America's miltary readiness suffers and it society is broken and divided. All the support we had in the aftermath of 9/11 from the world is more or less dead. The question "Why?" bears asking.
And if you're a servicemember, you know and I know that none of us wearing the uniform should say a bad word about the C-in-C while he is in office, online or offline. I am scrupulous about adhering to the relevant regs. That doesn't mean a good well-meaning civilian (usually veteran) who cares about America (no, not the chronic anti-war activist who just hates America over ... everything, even Care Bears and Disney) can't call a spade a spade and say the war is being run into the ground.
So as sick and tired as you may be, people will exercise their 1st Amendment rights, right or wrong. Version 1.1 Amendment rights on "Free speech with Intelligence" is not on the Bill of Rights. Stupidity has been present a self-selecting evolutionary factor in the human race for a while now. Get over it.

All you have to do is turn on ABC, NBC, CBC, CNN, MS NBC, basically every channel. the Media is very left leaning, it's getting to Election time and they want power back, that's all they're concerned with, even if it means bashing our own people. Have you heard ANY of the positive stuff that happens in Iraq? The new schools, rebuilding of infrastructure, kids in schools for the first time in years. You only hear the body count because they only want you to hear the bad part of WAR. It will years before people realize this was the right thing to do (Fight it now and over there or later and over here). A Country was freed of a crazy dictator. Both sides are too concerned with being the CORRECT party instead of working together. If BUSH was a Democrat, you'd be hearing how GREAT the economy is (And by the way, it is!), how many more people own homes, how many more people have jobs, etc. The President isn't going anywhere until his term is up! Why can't they shut up and work to get things done? All they do is complain and have you EVER heard a plan from the complainers? I haven't! Sorry, I digress..... Because they're too concerned about power and being the CORRECT party instead of doing their jobs!

The media is controlled by liberals who just hate the fact that George W. Bush, who they consider to be a bumpkin, first beat Al Gore who was supposed to be a lock on the presidency, and then won the popular and the electoral vote over John Kerry, who ran on his phoney war record and was exposed by the swift boaters. Of course, people tend to believe what they read - it's in the newspapers so it must be true, right? As for bashing the troops, liberals cry that they aren't spitting on the troops like they did in the Vietnam war, that they support the troops but not the war. The problem is that they cannot support the troops if they don't support the mission which is to stay until we win, however long it takes.

You have it wrong, sir. Our country as a whole supports our troops in Iraq and everywhere else in the world. We admire their efforts and only wish Mr. Bush had sent them into battle with all they needed to succeed...but he didn't.
As for the "war"? Mr. Bush and his cohorts lied to all of us, bent truth, decieved us all. He was planning the invasion of Iraq before 9/11. What he did was illegally invade a soverign nation who had NOTHING to do with the attack on 9/11... As bad as Saddam was, he was no threat to us....
What Mr. Bush wanted was control of the Iraq oilfields and he and his cronies manufactured what "evidence" they needed in order to go into Iraq and take them. He has abused we, the people and, most importantly, our brave men and women who are battling their hearts out and losing their lives in this effort.
This is not a just war. Iraq is in shambles, infrastructure ruined, a million Iraqis dead, 3300 Americans, dead. Thousands have been crippled or seriously maimed, millions of Iraqis (who had the means) have refugeed to Iran, Syria and other mid-East nations.
Now, today, with rotations to Iraq being extended and our young people being forced to stay there for longer and longer periods of time, 50% of our good young soldiers are suffering emotional and mental fatigue and other problems.
We don't ever bash YOU and our TROOPS. We just want you to come home. You are being asked to do what shouldn't have been started. There is no "win" there...
The madman in Washington is the one responsible for this....he is the destroyer, the arrogant tyrant, the American terrorist who has brought death and destruction to Iraq and many, many deaths to our own. He should be tried for treason.

I too am serving over here. I have never heard one person speak against the troops or me. Don't confuse people not believing in the war here with not supporting you. And don't think for a minute that innocent people don't get killed here. They do. Unfortunately it is called collateral damage. It's a part of what we do. Part of what makes this country great is the ability for our citizens to disagree with the president. You and I are protecting their rights to do so. We have no obligation to agree with them, but we have the obligation to ensure they are always able to do so. The people who oppose this war do so because they believe our lives are not worth expending for this particular cause.

although i am in the military too, and i've been deployed 3 out out of 4 years and just got stop lossed and forced to stay on this deployment, i disagree with our current commander in chief. i do hate the fact that people can't appreciate the things that we do. as much stuff that we are required to do and know as soldiers they have no idea what types of things that we go through on a day to day basis. i also disagree with the reasons behind my current deployment, but i'm a soldier and i'm gonna give 110% to doing my job. our jobs are all about just killing people. i think people let stuff that they see or hear on television give them the wrong idea about how things really are in the military. i use to think poorly about the military myself, but speaking as someone who's been in the service for a while now, alot of the stuff i see on tv is over exaggerated. i could gives tons of examples about stuff that is currently going on, but i can't at the moment because some of the things i have to talk about affect my unit and what we are doing.

Very few people bash the troops. Most people on both sides of the debate go far out of their way to laud the troops, so I'm not sure where you're getting that from. As for Bush, we bash him because many if not most of his policies are failures, his leadership is crappy, and he acts more like a king than a President.

Maybe because the Bush administration lied about why we went to Iraq. As for our troops, any American who bashes them is an idiot.

I'm no passivist, but this War is a waste of the lives of our troops. The president and his higher officers are not brave; it doesn't take bravery to send young men to die.
The president lied in order to start this war. That makes him a traitor to America, and a murderer of Americans.
