How can I get my dog to stop going in the house? Though potty trained she continues to go on carpet.?
My now 8 month old toy poodle Spicy was a little late to get her shots so she couldnt go outside to walk. We paper trained her because of this. Though there were some accidents she knows to go on the paper. However finally she can go outside and she even waits to go outside to poop most of the time if she can hold it. 80 percent of the time she is able to hold it. Sometimes she may look me in the face and just do it. But this morning there was poop at my bedroom door and half across the livingroom. We started putting her in the kitchen to sleep because she cant continue to sleep in my bedroom. At first I thought everything was fine and then she does this. I'm frustrated but I do love her. I feel like I've worked too hard to get a dog to give up because I was finally able to convince my mother to let me have one. However I just dont know what to do anymore. I dont know if shes being spiteful or what. I dont want to give her up but I just dont know where to go from here. Please help.

She's not housebroken. Get a crate and housebreak her properly. You've confused her by letting her go on paper. Don't give her free range of the house at night. She's not being mean or nasty, she just doesn't know.

This is why you never train a dog to go in the house in the first place. What was once OK is now giving you thoughts of getting rid of her. This is not her fault. You need to start all over again with a crate and out door training. Take her out more often and make sure she doesn't have a medical condition and praise her when she goes outside. Put her n a crate at night. You really made this problem when you taught her to use a paper or whatever IN THE HOUSE. Bad idea.

Welcome to the wonderful world of owning a dog.
Do not stress about your dog missing the papers occasionally because all dogs do this once and a while. You should expect your carpet to be peed on occasionally if its a toy breed. I own 2 chihuahuas and they go on papers about 98% of the time because they are indoor dogs. Once and a while they run to a corner and pee. Why they do this, is anyone guess. Dogs mostly do things because they can get away with it.
Heres the catch 22 if you are hard on your dogs with alot of stress, they age much faster. Yelling at a dog. Getting frusterated at dog. Even raising your voice alot at a dog will age it faster. If you dont sweat the little things, then your dogs will stay young alot longer. I suggest you keep a tarp near your bathrooms and put the papers on them to limit pee on the carpet. If its an indoor dog and is already trained to do this then your lucky. Just encourage the good behavior it is already trained to do. The reality of having your toy breed go out into the weather is unrealistic. They are not as hardy and do not go outside on their own without supervision. Chihuahuas for example hate and cold weather. and prefer to stay indoors and sunbathe by a glass window rather than go outside and have sun with 20 degree colder wind
Retraining your dog to go outdoors is confusing to the dog if it doesnt have a dog door. And most of the time your dog will opt to stay where its warmer to poddy. Since this is an indoor dog, I really suggest you stick with the papers and tarp method. We keep a seperate trash can in the restroom to store the puppy papers for a day or 3 (with a lid to stop the smell). Then trash it so you arent running to the dumpster 3x a day. Sorry I couldnt be more helpful on retraining, but the realities of owning indoor toy breeds is very different than large breeds.
Just my personal experience.
P.S. toy breeds usually sleep with their owners either on your bed (in their own dog pillow) or under your covers. This is very common. Most toys dont stink. Why wouldn't your Mom let the dog sleep with you?
If the problem is that you dont clean up enough, and dont keep up with chores... I assume you are young and live with mom and are proving you are responsible... Then maybe you need to try harder.
My suggestions are from an experience, adult, responsible dog owner. I hope you are one too.

The most important times to take Ur puppy outside, is after 15 minutes or so after eating or drinking alot of water, before bed, and first thing in the morning. Also, look for behavior changes ie, sniffing the floor, wanting extra attention, etc. I've train even my cat like this. Commit to it!

This is not an uncommon problem. One of the previous answers before is correct. Get a crate and crate train her. Crate training is pretty easy, and she will start to love the crate. You probably will want to keep it in the kitchen for the first few nights, but beause she will probably whine. I've had several foster dogs take to it the first night though. I hope this helps.

YOU trained her that going inside a house was totally acceptable ( paper training) dogs do not think as we do, she understood that she was allowed to go potty inside - has nothing to do with papers.. you need to start from square one.. and re train.... this is a common mistake new pet owners make.. NEVER ALLOW the dog to potty inside and you will have a very very easy time housebreaking.

Do u let her out b4 u go to bed? this culd help the situation a bit bcoz she may onli be doin it bcoz she realli needs to go and if u use the paper technique but outside she may learn that its not ok 2 do it in the house and it culd also b the smells from wen she used to do it making her do it again, wen a dog pees or poos somewhere the smells can stick around and they want to make sure that every1 knows that its there territory.
or u culd jus call up ur vet and ask wat u culd do to stop it
she may also jus grow out of it.
