Biogas is primarily used for cooking and domestic warming purposes. CNG or compressed natural gas is used for fuelling vehicles. Natural gas cannot be used directly for household purposes. It has to be used with extreme precaution to confront its very high inflammability nature.

  • Bio gas is used as fuel for cooking. If compressed, it can replace compressed natural gas for use in vehicles, where it can fuel an internal combustion engine or fuel cells.

We need not compress bio gas for cooking. Eventhough people are using LPG cylinders for vehicular purpose, there is a risk of fire. Natural gas (methane) when compressed (Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)) can be used for vehicular purpose. Government banned using LPG cylinders in vehicles. When LPG is mixed with air Synthetic Natural Gas (SNG) can also be used for vehicular purpose.
