Can I buy a car directly from the manufacturing plant?

Well I was wondering if I could go to the plant where they make the Toyota Tacoma and just buy it cash or a loan check?

If I could that would save me a couple of thousands don't you think?

Long time ago you could do that but the dealerships cried so much that we are no longer able to buy this way, we just have to bite the bullet.

it's not going to happen, they don't do that anymore, back in the 60's you were able to go to Detroit and get a car from the plant and save shipping charges but that is long gone, it has to be shipped to a dealer. I am a GM employee retiree and I can't even buy direct from the factory, I can buy a factory car that has 3,000 miles on it that was driven by a GM executive at a great discount but it still has to be shipped to a dealer of my choice.

Not in the US or Canada - the franchise laws do not allow it.
