Who thinks we should buy more domestic auto`s?

I think we need to start taking care of ourselves in this country and look out for our companys or we wont have any left. We have already become to dependant on other countrys for manufacturing and soon will continue to loose these jobs. If as americans we dont start doing the right thing we wont have anything. Lets face it quality is no longer the issue.

I own a shop, and from what I see you are 100% correct. Even the auto companies that are owned by foreign companies that manfacture vehicles here count as jobs. I don't care how smart you are, or how much education you have, you are still dependent on a job, and if you choose to live here, then I don't think education will help you if there is no jobs to be had. Years ago we cursed stuff made in Japan, and now we curse stuff made in the U.S. If there are no jobs, then how do we purchase anything made anywhere? The trouble with the Americans is; They don't see foreign made stuff as a threat to our economy. Its human nature to buy what is cheapest, and this is due in part to Americans having less and less buying power. Our problem stems from a lax in education, and our ability to compete with foreign imports. The over engineered products that drive up prices, and our failure to be a leader in educating our young, will drive us to depend on cheap products. We should all buy what is made here, and do our part to help our own, or we will fall so far behind that we will become a less of a super power each day. This has nothing to do with illegals in this country, but has everything to do with allowing our money to go somewhere else. Illegals don't help the situation as long as they send all the money they make out of the country, pay no taxes, and ride our social hand outs to death. I'm not sure the mess this country is in, can be fixed now. The strength of a country is dicitated by the value of its dollar in the world economy. I'm not sure one can go into any store and find anything made in the U.S.A. We have less and less ability to compete in the world maket, and our products have lost their reputation of being the best quality in the world. We must think like the Japanese did when we were laughing at their cheap made stuff. We either do something about it, or fall by the wayside. We are no longer the industrialized nation we used to be. How we turn that around, or even if we should seems to be the trend. No jobs equals no money, and no money equals a problem that I'm not sure we will do anything about until the nay-sayers have no food or money. Only then will they have a change of attitude.

We have got to have a dependable car that everyone can afford, just like the VW bettle did. I don't care if it looks the same every year, but if it can become an icon as a dependable vehicle, then the nation will grasp it.

Glad to help out, Good Luck!!!

No such thing anymore. The Big 3 car companies use parts, technology, workforce and designs from their import competition that they partly own anyway.

Benz controls Chrysler, The Fords are better in Europe and GM for some reason cannot build a properly functioning car. They can build the hell out of a truck though, so the best trucks are American made in my book.

If you don't want to lose your job to immigrants (legal or illegal) or a foreign country, then you have to up your game. Learn a more marketable skill and gain more education, The days of the blue collar hard working American are coming to an end. Cheap labor is the only way billion dollar companies can survive. Microsoft's tech support number dials some company in India. How can a person who is unfamiliar with America, American english and it's culture going to help me without frustrating me first?

Companies do what's legal, not what's right. People who aren't in your shoes won't see things your way until they put them on. Not trying to sound harsh or rude but if an immigrant who barely speaks the language can do your job, it's time for you to up your game and get a better one.
