I will tell you only if you promise to use only my plans : )
First, stay away from all the expensive food "famous" food places. They are not worth it at all NYC is a mecca for food, go to all the mom and pop type of places!
Tuesday morning get up bright and early. You can hit all the major NYC sites. Statue of Liberty, Empire State Building, Ground Zero (although this is just a construction site now), and at least two museums. In your travels you should be able to check out a Gray's Papaya. That's the best hotdog place in NYC. There are a ton of them throughout the city. Just check the net. Check this out to plan your trip, all the major sites are on there with the trains you need. http://www.nycsubway.org/maps/ Then you go to your game. You will probably be pretty tired so I suggest just having dinner at the field or close to your hotel.
Wednesday, you are probably going to be tired again. If you are intent on Nathan's go out to Coney Island. The boardwalk is there and the aquarium. This is a long train ride, so plan some time. You will probably spend the whole day before the game just getting there, experiencing it and getting back. If you have room after the hot dogs, go to Tonno's they have pretty good pizza. And it is famous.
Thursday plan to walk your a** off in Central park. Make it up to the 96th street entrance and walk to Columbus. Between 97th and 98th on Columbus there is a restaurant called Malecon. Delicious! Depending on how many of you there are order less than you think you will need. Make sure you get some roasted chickend though. Oh, and an empanada. YUM! Take this to Riverside park (down the hill) and have a picnik. Walk down towards your hotel on the river after lunch and get a rest before the game.
Thursday do LES (lower east side). You will see Chinatown, the village, and little Italy. Make sure that you eat somewhere that has really nasty stuff in the window. It is generally more authentic and yummy food. Search the LES on the internet and you will find a ton of fun stuff to do that is not "typical" NYC. Make sure you hit the tenement museum. Its so interesting. tenhttp://www.tenement.org/ement museum. Stop at Pommes Frites (another famous spot) for a nice french fry snack. They really are good though. http://www.pommesfrites.ws/ That night hit Times Square. There is not a lot to do there, but you could catch a show or just people watch. Hit Harry's steakhouse for dinner.
Friday have breakfast at Mayrose. They have a great breakfast. If you have time stop at Fondue. Even if just for dessert. It's delish!

Wow, big question, I'm not a planner so I'll just give you some tips and great places to eat and visit. -- Since you want to see the popular sites (Statue of Liberty, Empire State Building), I will tell you that there is always a line, don't expect to just come and see without a wait. The Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island is a longer wait because of over-crowded ferries. But if you don't really have a desire to actually go on Liberty or Ellis islands, take the ferry from Brooklyn to Manhattan (it's free), you'll get great views of the statue and a full view of the Manhattan skyline pulling into port. -- The Empire State Building is almost always atleast an hour wait, the best times to go are weekdays, early in the morning or in the evening between five and six o'clock.
For a good pizza pie go to John's Pizzeria in Times Square, now as a New Yorker, I wouldn't ever recommend a meal in Times Square, but with this one acception, John's has great pizza. It's fresh and it has a laid back New York atmosphere, the service is friendly. For a quick, yet satifying lunch before the game, stop by the Cosi Sandwich Bar on 6th ave., they're known for their bread. -- Chinatown, to me, is more of a shopping place, although if you use your good judgement when peeking in the restaurants, you'll find one that suits you. I hardly ever go there. -- While Chinatown is shopping, Littly Italy is food. There are always waiters standing outside to help you with prices and menus to find what you're looking for. Any place you pick, if you mention you'd like a good table, most will give you the best table/view in the house or best available. I recommend Sofia's (not just because it's my name), they've got great pasta. You're guaranteed to have fun in Littly Italy (even though it seems like it's shrinking). For dessert, there's plenty of gelato stands and authentic sweet shops lining Mulberry st., grab yourself some chocolate-on-chocolate cannoli, too. -- Make sure you keep your metro card handy. Enjoy your stay in the Big Apple!
