After pregnancy, I can't even do situps anymore due to the c-section.?
Aside from surgery, what options do I have to rebuild these muscles and reshape my tummy?
I have been told to see a specialist, but I don't know what kind of specialist nor do I really have the funds so any help is greatly appreciated. thanks
It has now been 2 years since I gave birth and I go to the gym and have tried pilates, yoga, and other things, but its like my muscles aren't there anymore and some exercises just seem impossible. I am getting in fairly decent shape except for my stomach where I am still carrying substantial weight.

I'm a Pilates instructor and have had success with women that have had c-sections. It takes a while for a woman that has had a c-section to "feel" her muscles work again. It may be due to the trauma to the abdominal muscles or even growth of scar tissue at the incision site. Having someone work with you in finding those muscles again helps. If you have insurance, asking your doctor to prescribe a few sessions with a physical therapist may be helpful or even taking a yoga or Pilates class and talking with the instructor after class about your situation and asking her to spend a few moments with you to help you use the muscles you need to strengthen your core.

I am with the first girl on dont do it too soon!
But when you do:
Since you cant do situps and prolly cant do any type of full pulling motion...try just sitting in a chair and tensing up the belly muscles and hold them for intervals of like 10 seconds...and then release...and start out slow and with just a little tensing and work your way up.
This should build the muscles without putting too much strain on the rest of you.
Congrats on the new addition :)

I'd guess after your scars healed, you could begin working on exercises to help with your tummy. You wouldn't want to start before because of the pain and the possiblity of reopening up the incision line..
