Predestination...?

If you believe in it, explain to me why you teach your child to not play in the street...

Update:

Gee. It seems like people believe my question is silly...

Well, if there is such a thing as God's will, can your will be greater?

It can't be both ways. Either you are in control of your destiny, or he is in charge...

You keep your kid out of traffic to block God's will, since yours is stronger than what he has planned for the tyke?

Or, you don't keep him out of traffic, believing he will protect him, and if he doesn't than that was the way he had things planned? Hmmmm.?

Who is in charge here of all things on heaven and Earth? You or the Almighty?

Update 2:

I'm elated! You see, I taught too many years to not enjoy listening to young mind's wheels turn...

Just one more thing, though. It appears you, as a group, tend to believe I am an atheist for posing the question. Is that fair?

Do you believe I do not believe in a power greater than me; or, does that statement by itself make me a "non-believer" since I did not call that power "God"?

BTW: That guy who got into our intellectual endeavor...the one with the intent to leave our Country and leave us with the bill for his education....

We'll be much better off. It's worth the expense. Get outta here and join your type elsewhere.

Have a nice day.

Well, if the Holy Spirit is working within us, then we will not want our child to get run over by a car. God guides our footsteps accordingly. What's strange to me is how the atheist can care one bit about carbon-life form offspring that, according to Darwin, is merely another animal anyway. Fortunately, God guides their footsteps, too, in spite of what they believe.

If I am uneducated then you sir are an out of touch buffoon. And a coward at that, no, you can't just send emails with baseless claims then hide by not allowing email. I don't have time to educate you on current events but I will outline it for you: college costs have more than doubled since the 70s, direct federal student loans have not. Private loans account for much of educational funding on these loans there is is federally mandated interest rates. This is why recently state governments such as NY have successfully sued companies like sallie mae and college financial aid officers for unfair practices. Try opening a newspaper before you open your mouth. Its not the 70s anymore.

it's not a silly question... pretty valid in my opinion. certain laws apply to the earth realm. the laws of gravity, cause and affect, etc. apply to all. (if you touch fire, you get burned, if you step off of a roof top you will fall, if you step out in front of a moving vehicle, you'll get hit.) makes sense. however, certain laws apply to the spiritual realm only. the gifts of God which are many, are for the "believers" only. the laws of protection, providing, intercession are blessings predestined to "believers" no matter what the situation. true God does provide, protect and intercede for non-believers as well, but not on the same level. peace

If Predestination is true, then EVERYTHING has ALREADY been decided by an ALL KNOWING, ALL POWERFUL, LOVING and MERCIFUL GOD, so we shouldn't worry. Everything Must have been known to God even berore Creation, therefore he had foreknowledge and approved of everything that has ever happened or will ever happen...He even MADE THE WICKED (Proverbs 16:4), so even the EVIL they do was approved by God...If That is not true then Perdestination cannot be true! You can't have it both ways!!

Because we are to raise our children to KNOW BETTER. This is a silly question if you really think about it.

God's hand is on us, yes. God is Sovereign YES! But if we were to just sit around letting our kids do what they please that would make us horrible parents, foolish parents! We love our kids too much to teach them wrong or not care. God tells us to train them up in righteousness and love them. Therefore it is common sense to tell your child NOT to play in the street!

If it were God's will for them to, they would-- I would have no control over that.

    See the difference?

But do you also see it is God's will for us as parents to warn them?

Because I don't know if it's predestined for them to die in the street or not. As a parent, part of my job is to protect them. Therefore, to try to keep them safe, I instruct them not to play in the street. That's common sense. If they are predestined to die in the street, they will, despite my instructions to do the opposite, play, and die, in the street. If you believed you were destined to die playing on the freeway, wouldn't you try to avoid the freeway like the plague, anyway?
