how many grams of carbs are allowed on Phase 1 of South Beach?

Just looking to find if there is a max amount of carbs allowed in South beach phase 1. I know it's something extremely low, but curious on the exact #...

    i have the book, which is really good to understanding the diet btw, and there's no definitive answer but i think it was something like <20 carbs a day. plus another cool thing about the book is that it has easy to follow recipes. but just like any other diet you need to make sure you discuss this with your doctor / dietitian / or a nutritionist, because a high protein / low carb diet can make you spill keytones, in turn making one very ill.
