can anyone recommend some decent music to download?

Anything from Train, Aerosmith's Honkin' On Bobo, Goo Goo Dolls, Daniel Powter, Bon Jovi, Metallica, Elton John, Chicago, Rob Zombie, Saliva, Steely Dan, The Eagles, Dr. Hook, on and on. Those should keep you busy for a little while and cover all aspects except rap-I hate rap and DO NOT consider it music. Hope this helps!!!

Brett Dennen - Kind of modern folk singer.

Charlotte Gainsbourg - A little different but good.

Colin Hay - Acoustic stuff mostly.

Etta James - Old R&B singer.

Amy Winehouse - She's crazy but a great singer.

Rilo Kiley - Great indie pop.

Not sure if this stuff is your style or not, but those are some of my current favs.

Depending on your tastes I'd recomend the links I've given. I don't find the more mainstream stuff these days is even worth a moment's notice.

Oh, do you mean actual R&B, or that generic pop trash they trawl out by the truckload these days?

My favorites are BT (Movement in Still Life), Massive Attack (Mezzanine), and Bjork (Homogenic).

I also like what I call "Dork Rock." Look for bands like Weezer, Nerf Herder, Fountains of Wayne, and Spacehog.
