problems with certain websites?

When I do a search on ebay the page wont load and I get a HTTP 500 internal server error. It also says the website is under maintenance or has a programming error. This happens everytime. If I use my wifes laptop its fine. I also have problems with other sites such as bebo.

I've just googled your error code & come up with this:

    http://www.checkupdown.com/status/E500.html

This suggests, however, that the problem is an issue at 'their' end as opposed to yours, but why does it work on your wife's pc? Hmmmm.

On your side then, I'd be looking at: Windows updates, are you up-to-date? Clearing down your Internet Cache. And, last resort (for now) Resetting Internet Explorer's advanced settings. Tools>Options>Advanced>Reset.

    Hope this helps.

The HTTP 500 error is usually client-side (not a problem with your computer) however, the fact that your wifes laptop works fine (assuming you use the same internet connection) makes things different. First i would try different sites such as www.ebay.com/ www.ebay.co.uk etc. if that does not work perhaps try using a proxy such as this: https://proxify.com/ (you just type http://www.ebay.co.uk/ into the box and hit 'go') if all else fails try using another browser such as firefox or opera.

i could not find much else about this on various tech sites, so if the above fails you may want to contact your network provider.

One thing you may try is deleting your cookies and temporary internet files. to do this click "tools, then internet options, and you will see a tab that says "delete cookies" and another tab that says "delete files"
