Are you old enough to remember black and white tv?

Yes! And rabbit ears. We had one TV and when it broke we actually had a TV repair man come fix it. We begged dad for a new color TV but dad said we didn't need one because we could see everything we needed to see in black and white. I also remember stations "signing off" at night with the Nation Anthem song and then a "sign off" logo coming on the screen and staying there while a high-pitched humming noise rang. I also remember when programs or movies advertised the fact they were "in color."

The funny thing is: after we finally got a "color" TV, dad absolutely refused to watch anything still broad-casted in black and white. "I didn't spend good money for a color TV so I could watch b&w!" Dad ruled the roost so unless it was in color.... it wasn't watched.

A few people mentioned remote controls. I remember the first remote controls were attached with an electric wire to the TV. We still thought it was an amazing thing.

I remember playing "Pong" on the TV and mom and dad worrying about the images being "burned" into the screen.

I used to watch The Mickey mouse club and Lassie. And I too remember the first time I saw the Wizard of Oz in color. The Poppy's were magnificent. They always used to have it on Thanksgiving

I am not old enough to remember when most tvs were black and white, but i do remember watching a lot of black and white tv as a child.

I DO remember!! We had an antenna in a tree for reception and every time there was a wind storm my dad would have to climb that tree and swing the antenna back into place.

We only had like 3 stations (on a good day)!

Barely. But In Living Color was in color. I remember my parents wrapping the tv antennae in foil to get a better picture.

Yes, I do. I also remember only two channels were available, and you would have to constantly get on the roof to turn the antenna. At least we didn't have to pay over a 100.00 a month for cable. Drive Inn movies were very popular back then. Alot of people actually put their bar-b-que pits in the back of their trucks and loaded up the kids with their sleeping bags, for a night at the movies. Teenagers use to see how many kids that they could stick in the trunk of their car, to sneak into the Drive Inn.

When I was around four, a TV was delivered to our house. My mom turned it on and there was Kiterick !!! That's really all I remember... how gorgeous she was in that cat suit. Later, my mom and I would watch " Twilight Zone', and I was scared out of my little pedal pushers!!

i remember owning a black and white tv... they were good times.

Our first tv was a black and white job. I was five I think. It was a Crosley, floor model. We used that sucker as our main tv and as a second tv for twelve years.

Yep on a 10" Motorola. But most of all "I Remember Mama" with Peggy Wood and a very young Dick van Patton as Nels, on Friday nites at 8PM.
