What are those things that they snap before they shoot a video?

Those sign type things where it shows the name of the video and director or something like that?

Also there is a timer thing on there too.

    it's called a marker. but is also known by a bunch of different names including clapboard, slate, slate board, sync slate, sticks, and board

    A clapboard. It allows them to sync the video reel and the audio reel later when they are editing.
