How do I download video from my Sony Handycam camcorder onto my computer?

I cannot figure out how to get my videos onto my computer so I can save them and re-record new videos onto my tapes. I read the whole instruction manual and there is nothing explaining how this is done. Does anyone have this same camera that can give me a little help?

Well, i had the some problem and i happened to call customer service..there is purchasing a product involved..what you do is go to your nearest best buy or whatever and ask for an i.link wire for your handycam..they should supply one for about under 40 bucks...and make sure that you've kept all the software from the camera or else the wire would be useless....if you have the wire AND the software...download the software and then restart your computer....then, look for something called "Import from Handycam (Tape) " Click on that and you'll p[robably know what to do next. Good luck!

"Handycam" is a general name for Sony's consumer camcorders, but since you mention tapes I assume you've got a MiniDV camcorder. Video capture from these cameras is via firewire - if you haven't already got one, you'll need to install a firewire card in your pc and you'll need a firewire cable to connect it to the camcorder.

You can capture the video with Windows Movie Maker or use another video editor. Be warned though, it's going to use a lot of disk space! On the plus side, tape's cheap.

even if that's a a rewritable DVD you may format it on your camcorder. if this is purely a popular DVD and that's finalized you may not delete something. i believe the DVD is junk basically purchase new rewritable DVDs for you to use. That C:13:02 mistakes message is describe on your vendors guide it says ideal the following about that different message. -The disc is defective, Use nicely ideal disc consisting of your camcorder -The disc is grimy or has scratches on it. sparkling the disc with the provided cleansing fabric.

in the camera their is a finalization process u do in order for the video u recorded to be burned on the DVD as a data disc. Then u can put the DVD in your computer and edit it.
