If this is just about speed of start up, go to start, run and run msconfig.

The last tab tells you everything running and i expect there will be loads.

Look up each item on google and work out if you actually need them to laod at startup and run in the background.

e.g. msn, yahoo, acobat fast start for office etc.

Disable them then restart your PC.

Is it quicker.

your processor isnt built for overclocking and at 3.2ghz i wouldnt even think you really need to

anyway firstly,you cant increase the bus size of a processor,this is something that is set by the processor and p.c manufacturers,and then by using the multi-plyer that is how your cpu clock speed is determined

for example,i have a pentium 4 as one of my home p.c,s,its a 3.0ghz model,it has a fsb(front side bus) and a multiplier of something like 4,as the psb is 800mhz this equates to 3.0ghz

however with pentium 4 cpu,s the actual fsb is 200mhz but the amount is stated as 800mhz as its quad pumped,making it 800mhz

your best solution is to increase your system memory(ram) and also if your using a older ide(pata) hard drive swap this for a s.a.t.a. drive,the disk access speeds are much better

however i would seriously check for other reasons for your slow startup times before you upgrade any components,as in my experience the pentium 4 chips had some of the fastest start up times of all processors

you may have some spyware on your p.c,as this can dramatically slow down your start up times,also viruses can cause the same type of problem,so a scan with your anti-virus scanner and a spyware scan should be done as soon as possible

note:unless you are fully knowledgable in the subject of overclocking and you have enough cooling,you shouldnt undertake overclocking

its a skilled task and one mistake can fry your processor beyond repair.allways seek advice before undertaking overclocking

Bus frequency is the only thing you can adjust, and it would have no effect on how fast it takes your computer to load up.

The only way to speed up your load times is to limit the amount of programs that are set to load on boot. As well as make sure the computer is clean of all spyware, malware, adware and viruses.

You can limit the startup programs through "Msconfig" in the run dialog of the start menu.

It would be a heck of a lot easier to just do a fresh install of windows.

You can't increase the bus size. The bus size of the PC is determined by the type/make/age of the motherboard installed in the system.

You'll have to upgrade if you seriously want to do this.

From your specs I'd guess your system has an 800Mhz FSB (Front side bus)

The bus size is for the mother board, not the cpu. You have to find out through the manufacturer of that motherboard.

In my opinion, Bus size is not part of your problem.

Your problem resides on a computer which probably needs to be reinstalled. If you have a tendancy to install / uninstall software, each one of them keeps a small amount of data which slows down the PC.

Simply reinstall Windows and you'll see a HUGE difference!

slow startup has nothing to do with bus .. and more often than not can be traced to a mangled driver somewhere .. and the most likely of those is the graphics driver ... also it could be too many startup apps ..

With your CPU, you are looking at the wrong direction.

Start with memory, should have around 512MB or more

Clean your computer of virus/trojans/spywares.

RAM memory is what runs your programs. How much RAM do you have??????? Should be at least 520 minimum. If that doesn't work try bus augmentation surgery
