Hi everyone.One question:?
I'm not very good with math, and need quick help. If a book is priced say $16.99 and its marked with 20% discount. How to calculate the discount? Thanks for any help.

Multiply $16.99 x 0.20 (20% discount) = $3.40 So the discount is $3.40 off the price. Therefore $16.99 - $3.40 = $13.59.

Take $3.40 off the $16.99. That other person was wrong. To find the percentage find 10% first. All you do is move the decimal point once to the left. and you get $1.699 then you times that by two and you get $3.40 as 20% of $16.99. Good luck

They easiest way that I do % off on the spot is by.. this one for example:
20% of 100=5
so I round 16.99 up to 17.00 and divide by 5 equalling 3.40.
17.00-3.40=13.60 approximate
the real answer to 20% off of 16.99 would be 13.601

20% is 0.20, so the discount is the product of that and the original price, or $3.40. The price after discount would be $13.59.
