  • Bible story question... have drawn a blank?

I am not sure which testament... or if any... but is there a story about a man that was hungry in the middle of the night... got up, lit a candle, placed a fig/date in front of the light, looked through the fruit, saw a worm and threw it aside. He did this again and again until finally he was so hungry that he blew out the light and ate the fruit anyway? if so where is it located?

  • Filing Taxes-Question concerning Social Security

My grandmother is 63 years old and is drawing widow’s pension and disability through my late grandfather’s social security. She has been given her “ticket” to work. It states that she can only make a little over $12,000 a year.

I am thinking about hiring her for a job for my small business paying her $225 a week. (Which is $11,700-well under her what her “ticket to work” states)

However, I called my CPA to make sure and he is saying that since she is under 65 and I am treating her like an independent contractor (her using her own facilities) she will have to report the pay due to her making over the threshold of $6,000 and something for a single individual under age 65. And, she will have to pay taxes on that

I understand that Social Security states that if she makes over her what her “ticket to work” states, then she only really makes half of the amount that she earns over the limit.

But, why am I getting two different answers... one from Social Security with the ticket to work, and one from my CPA?

Help... I really want to help her out but I don’t want it biting her in the end.

  • I have recently purchased a Nikon D80...

and a Sigma 50mm 2.8 Macro Lens. I am not patient and don't have the time (prject deadline) to learn the manual while I have a dictionary close by.

I am trying to shoot something with this

    http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g273/jailbait4u0...

I can get a decent shot.

But, I would love to get that close to see all the details on the subject I am shooting. When I try the manual and program settings to zoom closer, my lens is too close to the object and is not allowing the flash to work so the shot comes out shadowed or dark.

I also have a ring flash.

Does anyone of you more professional that I am folks have any helpful trips, websites, or just knowledge that will benefit me and not let me throw this camera.

  • Make me an outfit...thanks?

I am in dire need of an idea for a spring outfit for a good friend's wedding.

It is outside in May. (I'm in the south, it will be fairly warm).

Her colors are Black, white, and a green color. (I do not want anything green!)

I am 23 years old, 5'3", shoulder length brown hair, brown eyes, fair skin.

I have always been a bit of a tomboy but I am now coming out of it. So anything goes!

    thanks!

  • Sportsmanship in the Postseason?

I may be just imagining things during regular season-that the teams line up on the field to do the traditional "good game" claps. (Maybe they don't.) But if they do....

Why does it stop during post season play?

I have been watching the ALCS with my fiance (a new baseball fan-avid soccer fan) and he pointed it out to me and asked why. In being able to answer all other questions about baseball that he had, I could not answer this one.

    please explain.

  • My Pregnant Attitude-Need adjustments?

I am approximately 8 weeks pregnant and I don't feel as if I am acting different. however, my fiance has commented that I am short with him and have a bit of an attitude. I believe that he is just taking me the wrong way on some things.

Are attitude changes common in prenancy?

How can I make changes in this, even though I am not realizing it?

(I am aware that this could be true and I am just not aware)

  • Concerned about job and being pregnant...?

I just recently (3 weeks ago) started a new job. My boss thinks that I have so much potential to move up in the firm that I work for. However, being only 22 and engaged, not married, I am pregnant, and concerned as to how to tell him and when I should. I am scheduled to receive a professional license in the career in approximately 3 more weeks. Should I wait until after I receive that, making me more valuable to the company, or should I tell him before then?

The job, as of right now, is not a very stressful one, and I feel that I could work here late in my pregnancy.

Please help on when i should tell my boss, and how.

  • What is wrong with me....?

this may sound wierd... but I have the hardest time deciding on a place to eat. It drives me crazy, no matter how much I want to make a decision, I just can't bring myself to do so. It is like I am analyzing something so mundane...

I can make bigger, life changing decisions with ease.

  • Needing advice... first pregnancy.?

I am 22 and pregnant for the first time. My significant other is a very awesome guy and I have no doubt that he will be an equally awesome dad. He is past-military and is currently a partial owner of a business about an hour away that has yet to open. He is nervous about the pregnancy. He is threatening to re-enlist as a reserve or take his money out of his business. I don't really want him to do either, just want him to get a decent job here, as a paramedic or such since he was one in the military. And, with that job would come insurance, which would save on some things in the long run.

Anyhow, How do I make him understand that we can make it and for him not to stress? And how do I talk him into getting that job without it being as if I am telling him what to go?
