what is the ampere rating of circuit breakers for a 3 tonner split type air conditioning unit? and wire size?

Update:

i havent got the unit yet, they told me its a 3 tonner split type ACU so i suppose there is a standard size for it.

basically, tons, i guess, determines the area to be covered by the ACU, furthermore, it would also determine the size of the motor and compressor.

is a 40 amp circuit breaker more fit for the job as the ACU may have surge voltage during start-ups? considering # 10 AWG stranded THW to be used still?

in addition, i guess a 3 tonner ACU is small enough to be built in an expensive three phase system. impractical? is it?

Tonnage has nothing to do with it. What make, brand, model. All the information you need is typcially on the side of the unit. Whether it is 110 (not likely), 220 or 3phase. Need specifics.

30 amp double pole breaker w/ 10 wire. it will say on the inside cover of the unit but in past experience, 30 is sufficient.

ok, i assumed you were american bc you used a standard american size i.e. ton. i dont know what european ppl use for their sizes of air conditioners. someone gave me a thumbs down for what reason i dont know other to be funny i guess. i m an hvac service tech and i do know how to size a breaker thank you very much.

use copper, not stranded aluminum. your unit has a capacitor to help w/ startup surge
