Yes, you would have to "score" it to remove the gloss finish and so your paint will stick.

Fine emory paper will make the surfaces porous enough to hold enamels.
For the chrome rear panel, a 000 steelwool pad will work just as well...both options can be found at any hardware store (even Walmart) and will create a bondable surface, without which the paint will flake and peel.
For the LCD screen, either tape it with clear packing tape and trim with an Xacto knife, or paint the screen with a thin coat of water-based latex before painting the body...since you didn't scuff the screen first, once the enamels are dried, the latex will peel cleanly off of the screen in a single piece.

Well ask the store were you got it from and if they dont know then look on the back of any Ipod case and there should be a number you can call. Then just ask the people what they think. Good Luck, i would have never thought of Painting my iPod nice creativity

Read Your Warranty Paperwork first, in case you have a warranty issue looking at the service tech side they may have some clause to bill you if the fine print says something also scratch that bezel repairs wont be cheap open the case may void warranty, service techs has notes on knowing that the case has been opened..

i wouldnt, if u want a change of colour (could u tell i'm canadian, colour not color, learn how to spell...jk..lol) get a new case, ipods are recognizable by there colour, not there owners taste.
