What type of Doctor should I go to? Please serious answers only.?

My body itches really bad especially behind my knees, I feel like my body is on fire. I noticed that my thighs and arms are bruised and then the bruises disappear and then re-appear. I went to my family physician and he doesn't know what to do. He gave me medication for allergies. I tried of losing sleep because at around 2:30 am, my body starts itching really bad.

You need to see Dermatologist. A skin doctor will know exactly what to do to help you. Please go to a Dermatologist. I would ask about Singulair, it's an excellent drug for allergies.

The bruises might be hives. I would ask your family doctor to refer you to an allergist who can help you figure out what might be causing the hives. Have you started any new medications or anything? Also, since you mentioned that you are having trouble getting to sleep because of itchiness, I'd suggest taking a benadryl before you go to bed. Benadryl should stop the itching and it also causes drowsiness which might be helpful in your case!

It sounds like hives to me. You say they're bruises, but do they look like red, raised marks that itch? If so, they definately sound like hives to me. Hives can be caused either by stress or by an allergic reaction. The best medication to take while experiencing hives is a drug called Atarax. That will stop the itching. Meanwhile, for tonight, get a tube of hydrocortisone cream ready!

Try changing what you wash your bedding with. That can make you itch. As far as the bruises, if you sleep with someone, they could be doing it in their sleep. I, too, was getting bruises when I slept. I don't sleep with anyone on reg. However, I found out that I was having seizures when I slept. You might want to ask about that also. Or, you could simply sleep walk. Hope it helps.

Your best bet would probably be to see a dermatologist for the itching problem. After an examination, you may be given a prescription for some sort of ointment or cream to apply to the itchy areas of your skin for a period of time.

Sounds like a dermatological problem. The bruising could be product of excessive itching and you've just irritated the capillaries just under the skin.

That sounds like it might be eczema. Its a skin condition that makes you really itchy and then you scratch and develop really dry skin. My son has it and he itches behind his knees too, so bad that his skin cracked. I would go see a dermatologist. They prescribed Elidel for my son and it got better. It might also be psoriasis, which is similar to Eczema. But there's hope to get better though, once you see the dermatologist. good luck

PS also be careful with the type of soap you use for washing clothes and bathing. you should use Aveeno to bathe and something mild for your clothes, like Woolite.

see another doc to r/o internal malignancy,,,,,,,itching is sometimes a manifestation of that,,,,,,or fungal skin infection.your doc is sloppy if he does not take skin scrapings to send to labfolks to examine & culture.if he's still mystified, your urticaria could be a food allergy, maybe strawberry, banana, apple, blueberry, milk, soy, barley,,,,,,,everything (almost) we eat seems to have yeast, which is sometimes pivotal in tiny immune deficiencies ,correctable by avoidance and other measures,if a patient is not doing the chicken as far as a classic food allergy reaction,a lot of docs are inclined to leave a suffering patient with no option except over the counter crap that is useless.an 11 hour mineral water fast(1 8oz glass of mineral or tap water per hour for 11 hrs) and then taking a tiny bite,or swig,of your customary favored chompies & juices ,and waiting 1 half hour, then try something else,,,if,when symptoms return, you've found te culprit,,,,,like i said, might be corn syrup, one type of legume, beer, grape, etc,,,,,it takes persistence,,,,,,,probly wont go away by taking a pill,,,,,,,get a second opinion,,,,,,,,if aside from rash you check out ok,try the other measures,,,,,,also look below for other contact info

A dermatologist should be able to figure out the cause whether:

Parasitic (specific antiparasitic drugs are indicated).

Inflammatory (broad-spectrum antibiotics + hydrocortisone cream +/- antifungal).

    Allergic (antihistamine tabs).
