Can political parties own Media?
In a democracy, political parties should not own public media such a s newspapers , televison channels , etc
Party newspapers are separate category. I mention the newspapers mischievously sporting themselves as the "independant media" but carry on reporting about their leaders and doing party prpoganda mostly alongwith current news items.
This is prevalent in states like Tamilnadu in India in high manner.
Whether any measure of International standards is there to weigh the democratic credentials of a state. If such developmental organsiations are there please give their names and addresses?

As long as we have politicians (as opposed to real leaders), Politics, Religion and Media is the UnHoly Trinity making great bedfellows (an orgy, if you will) coming together to
ru(i)n the masses.
E.g. The Karats of CPI (if i am not mistaken) are somehow related to NDTV..just an example...and Prannoy Roy is a converted Christian (from Hinduism) and his anti-Hindu stance is very visible in his news.
e.g. If someone draws an Hindu deity naked and some people protest, NDTV will always call it fanaticism, and for similiar offences by people of other religion, they will always term it as oppression which is being fought against.
You will see that NDTV will always term fights against missionaries (even if they are converting by luring people with money) , as Hindu terrorists or Hindu activists.
Again in TamilNadu, you will see anti-Hindu media especially with the so-called atheists leaders who NEVER fail to wish Muslims and Christians, but dont wish Hindus on their festivals.
So, if you will sit and analyse you will always find out the slant of the media and then when you find the connection it will all make sense...

There is no escape from this at least in Indian democracy. Simply because the political parties will claim not to be owning the media but some good samaritan (mostly relatives of some political leader) is behind the "good" cause.

Abolutely! Money buys anything you want. This is more a capitalistic society than it is democratic. You can see the favored candidate of the media just by the way they present the news, rather than presenting evidence.

All political parties have their own official publications...
In addition to that, there are various other media that work round the clock for their publicity...
