When can I transplant hostas and sedum?

Spring and fall are the best but they both can be transplanted successfully at any time. Just keep them moist, in shade,and get them back in soil as soon as possible.

Gardiners are always looking for Hosta divisions. It's nice you are willing to take the time to give the plants away instead of just killing them off. Hosta can live forever and be handed down from generation to generation. Sedums don't show their true beauty until fall. When they finally start showing off, I wish I had planted more in the spring.

Sedums can be transplanted almost anytime before cold weather sets in. Hostas can be transplanted after they bloom.

With proper and intensive care, you can transplant them anytime. The best time to do it however is in the fall or early spring.
