They take that information and sell it to marketing firms who sell that information to companies selling just about everything imaginable. Did you know that those "member discount cards" you get at grocery stores also collects information about what products you are buying and the store sells that to companies too? For example, a city might buy the information to see what areas are "stressed" based on what people are are buying (like aspirin). The freebie games offered on the net are nothing more than ways to gather information about you, what you like, and who you are. Scary huh?
