How can I retrieve an accidentally deleted file?

I accidentally deleted a file that took me forever to compile. It is not in the recycle bin. I really would like to restore this file. Please help!!

    1. Check the Recycle Bin (located on the desktop)

    If is not there means you might have emptied the bin.

    If it is there, right click and restore.

    2.If so, you need to use a recovery software to scan your pc to get back all those 'permanently' deleted files.
