Is there a place in the US friendly to animal rescue?
The state of CT is getting ready to make it a crime to shelter homeless animals unless you get a special license; which, if you register, will give them the right to barge in and 'inspect' private homes at any time, without cause or warning, and possibly fine people or throw them in jail for violations based on a completely arbitrary evaluation (i.e., they refuse to provide written standards). The purpose of this bill is to terorize all private rescuers into ceasing operations.
Between this and other corruption, I'm thinking of leaving. Is there any place in the US friendly to animal rescue, or at least willing to leave them alone?
Peedlepup - You are out of line and speaking from ignorance. I have personally watched state officials perjure themselves under oath in court, steal and vandalize personal property, and publicly slander those whom they wish to target. The senior state ACO has said in so many words he intends to shut down all private rescue. Read again for comprehension this time - they have provided NO WRITTEN STANDARD and refuse to do so. Ergo there is no guideline whatsoever that a person could follow. The purpose of the law is to allow the state to enter private homes without cause, without warrant, without warrant, and without allowing the victim any defense. Sounds like the Third Reich to me; if you think that's a good idea, you must be the one with the jack boots.

Get off your soap box. All the proposed regulations you mentioned are to make sure the animals are being treated in a humane manner. It is to assure that these animals have proper food, shelter, exercise, and medical care if needed, and to also make sure that the maxi mun number of animals kept at any location does not pose a health or safety risk to the community. So, what's you beef? You aren't one of those people who have 100 Cats are you?

Monterey, CA is very appreciative of sea lions, I understand. San Franciso is helpful to animals, of all kinds, especially surrender monkeys.
Bed bugs and tuberculosis bacterium are enjoying open borders.
Why leave?
